Possible bug, also tourny.

Post by firestorm »

in a game the other day against Taren, i managed to avoid a skill check. I was running, and had my attack set to wait on reload, and the reload happened the same second as the run. well i got to the attack screen, and decided to cancel my run, so hit the call move button, expecting a skill check for breaking a run.... and didn't get one.

I don't know if this has been caught already for WS, but thought i'd mention it.

On to the tournament. I was thinking about this, and here's what my idea is: to celebrate the release of WS, i'm going to run a 1.4 tournament (a real tournament hasn't been run in a long time anyways, so...). The teams will be coustom, however you want them, within these limits:

Tourmament team:
500 ton total weight max
4 jock max
starting money: 1.5 million
starting skills: 2500
max skill level (any one skill): 90

If you want in, make a team and post in this thread to let me know. I'll be running it single-elimination bracket style, I think. Everyone is welcome, and so are their comments and suggestions, of course.

You know I'm in.
We sometimes catch a window
A glimpse of what's beyond
Was it just imagination
Stringing us along?
More things than are dreamed about
Unseen and unexplained
We suspend our disbelief
And we are entertained

I need to know aprox dates and times of combats. My connection times are very limmited (basicly to nights). I would like to be in, but if this is a problem, I cannot.

If Firestorm's going to be running this like the others, there won't be any set times for the battles - just possibly a limit on how many days you have to get your match in. If it's your turn to fight, you need to get with your opponent to determine a game time, and go for it. I'm sure we can accomodate any limits you have on when you're connected.

As attacks will happen before moves and your move was already finished the break did not force a skill check. Seems to be a feature, not a bug.

I'm not sure, actually. I was able to duplicate the break move without getting a skill check. If you start running or dodging, then choose to break both attack and move at the same time, you generally get attack first. At that point, you're still moving and you haven't had a skill check to stop your motion. If you then click on the move button on the attack menu, it will take you to the move screen and allow to choose a different move action without ever making a skill check. It only works when you break both, and get the attack screen first, but it can change a lot of things, especially if your pilot skill isn't the best.

Larkin, you must know of this game much more than I, but wouldn´t it be caused by a bad reaction skill of the jock?
When I sometimes break move to fire it takes 1 or 2 secs to let me do it, and that happens often with unexperienced jocks.

Of course I would participate on a tournament!!!!

I need one more person before i can start the tourny, but as soon as someone else enters it'll be off. (Hetzer, maybe? Or Iceman? Anybody?) If I can't get someone else I may end up dropping someone, or something.

Here's how Round 1 will look (combatants paired up the standard way, most experience vs. least experience to prevent a bad player from placeing):

Firestorm vs Ducados
Tarendelcymer vs Coyote
Peztor vs ???

Winners will advance to Round 2, in which all survivors will play eachother once. The two with the best record will advance to Round Three, and will play to best of 3 rounds.

Hopefully Round 1 at least won't take long, Round 2 may take a bit longer and Round 3 will probably be the longest.

Alright, Lobsteve is in. Long time no see, both of you. Sorry, prince, just a bit late... unless you can find 1 other person to play against and get them to join before round 1 is over. *g*

You all know who to play. Get to it. Ducados, I need a way to contact you; do you use AIM or MSN Messanger? I don't have ICQ on this computer (although i'm going to download it in a few minutes), and I like those two better anyway. But if ICQ is all ya have, gimme the number.

I would make one addition to the tournament rules.

All jocks must be in battle.

Since they're special teams, I don't see how it matters. There's not going to be any salvage or worry about losing the leader. If someone really wanted to make 4 jocks and then come in with only 3 titans, they'd just be shooting themselves in the foot.

Have I to create tournament team on Team 1 slot? Or it can be anywhere else?

And... who is my partner? Lobsteve? If so, what's your ICQ number or nick? Maybe I have added you before, but I cannot find you in my contact list.

You should create your team on slot 1 or 2, unless you will never be hosting a game. Since you can't use slots 3 or 4 without having the first two in the game as well, you wouldn't be able to use those. Whoever is hosting the game will receive the opponent's team file and place into their slot 1 or 2, that way both teams will be used. If you'll never host a game, it doesn't matter where you create the team, since you'll just be sending the team file to your opponent.

OK, round one looks like this (as a refresher):

Firestorm vs. Ducados
Taren vs Coyote
Peztor vs Lobsteve
PC vs Rosary

And now that there are an even number of players, new entrys are closed.
Start playing. Report victorys here. Ducados, i need a way to contact you; i use AIM (Guardsheep2000) ICQ (113334898) and MSNM (sir_happy@hotmail.com)
