Forum Censorship?

Post by stovepipe »

I can't find my old thread about the great weird spacey interesting music being switched over to the christian cheddar cheese metal band that David Heath took his kid's to see and then invited to be a part of TOS.

Don't tell me you guys can't take a little legitimate and constructive criticism.

Here is the link
http://www.gamezone.com/news/04_23_03_01_22AM.htm

Why not let the creator's keep or pick the music they liked? It fit one zillion times more with the futuristic and dark feel of the game. That stuff would have been appropriate if this was WWF or something like that.

Don't be so offended. This isn't a flame. Its a fact.

If this post helps to give designer's more power over their creations than it was worth the flames that may come.

So was my thread deleted and if so, why?

Geez! Is that still gnawing at your ass? Really let it go.. no one here, but you, really cares that much about this. The principle of the matter is something that was worked out between Matrix and the developers; however, your original post seemed to more upset that Crownd had a religious affiliation then the prinicple behind your argument. This wasn't the way to approach the topic as it just turned people off... including those of us who don't give a rat's ass about Crownd's religious belief. Thier music in the game is fine and others seem to like it in general. Personally, I liked the original better, but that's 'cause I don't particularly like metal.

As for the post, and the reason I'm even repling to this. It along with every other post from the last 3 months was lost from the forums due to a hacker attack. No great conspiracy to sway the thoughts of the forum readers.... this time[;)]

Didn't you read my reply to your original post ? Here it is again. We, the creators, do like the music. Thats the fact. If you have a problem with it just turn it of and start your mp3 player.

You can also find in the BMP main site, in the Downloads section, the themes for MW2~4.

Ha ha Drag, You are the one that is feels like there butt is being munched, not me. And there were people that agreed with me and found what I had to say to be right on the money. Obviously I ruffled your little birdie feathers because I have a valid point. I believe I was called very “perceptive” in that thread. And don’t try to distort what I had to say. I bring up the religious affiliation because it my mind I get the feeling that maybe Heath is of the same religious affiliation and had that in mind as well as the interests of TOS when he brought this up the band. If the music worked better or as good as the old stuff, I wouldn’t have mentioned it. Larkin probably isn’t in a position to raise too much of a fuss about this thing, I don’t know. You yourself liked the original better. I think most people did by far. Doesn’t it strike you as much more appropriate for the setting and feel of the game. It rocked!!

Anyways, you guys got hacked. I will accept that and I wouldn’t have posted this again. I just thought, man, these guys can’t deal with my opinion? Obviously I wouldn’t post about your game if I didn’t think what you guys created wasn’t an interesting creation to begin with. Now if I can just figure it all out a bit more I will try to play the other novices online.

Peace!!!

The second half of your sentence is true. Forget about the rest, it won't do no good.

IIRC, the original theme *could* not be used anyway.
But if it makes you feel important to unload all that cr@p, knock yourself out. [>:]

1) Given the lyrics of the music, as well as the genre, I had no idea Crownd was a Christian band. Nor do I care.

2) Do the lyrics say "Convert or be d4mned?" "Pagans are evil?" "Buy this game or go to H3ll?" No. So what, exactly, are you offended by? What if D. Heath had chosen three Ozzy Osborne songs.... would you be offended then? How about Elvis? The Sex Pistols?

It's a GAME. Like television, you have the freedom to turn it off.

Well I dont know about everybody else but I like Crownds music and I personally dont care why they were chosen other than them boys can play. Still more musical choice would be good so Stovepipe do what I do when I get bored of the same old music. Turn off the ingame music, turn on whatever your computer uses to play all the tracks stored on it and hope you get 'another one bites the dust' next time you head shot an enemy titan with a TB [:D]

Oh and dont be sad and slag of Thorgrim as he is probably THE most helpful person to talk to who plays the game. Thats why he has more posts to his name than everybody else who has posted to your topic combined including one of the games creators.

Nonsense. Your posts attacking me are not game related at all. You contradict yourself by posting in this thread. Their probably was no way for me to bring up the ugly truth without some of you taking offense. I guess you want to keep everyone focused on this issue. If it really puts you to sleep, than don't respond and go back to your posts regarding the game and let this thread go away.

The religious thing is relevant because I feel that Heath might have been thinking he was somehow helping out his religious brothers when he brought them on board. Nothing wrong with helping out like minded people, I couldn't care less what religion it is, but the problem is that we had much better music already made for the game. And shouldn't he have asked the game designer's before he told Crownd right there after the concert that he had them in mind for this game specifically? I would think that finding the music would be one of the rather more fun things to do unlike the ball breaking work of coding a game. And Heath just comes along and takes this labor of love over?

As far as turning of the game, that argument is silly. What you should of said is that I can turn off the music and put the old stuff or different stuff on. That is true. But just because I can, it doesn't make what happened OK.

The fact that the band isn't preaching in the music they did for the game misses the point entirely. I am not attacking their religion. I am saying that their religious affiliation took PRECEDENCE over the appropriateness of their music for this game.

Well, you might like Crownd's music, but the old stuff was alot more appropriate. Do you know the music that I speak of? Thanks for having the class not to flame me in this thread. I expected a higher level of maturity from what I imagine to be a much older group of gamers than other games.

If the Thor guy helps people out, I suggest he go do that instead of posting here. He certainly isn't helping anybody out by keeping this thread alive by attacking me.

I think I vaguely remember it. I downloaded the ToS 1.4 or perhaps older version on my old compy years back but did not really get a chance to do try it. Do you have a link so I can actually listen to it?

As for Thorgrim the manner is one that I have used myself before, that of somebody who puts a lot in and then gets a bit uptight when somebody complains in what they view as less than constructive manner. He is just sticking up for his friends and all the hard work thats been put into the game and the community as a whole.

My advice to you is to change the subject to 'could we please have the option for different music' (or just use realplayer and turn the music off) instead of I dont think this music is good enough because of x,y and z. Perhaps start a new thread with that in and ask the rest of the players which they prefer. Perhaps if enough do like the old music then the Creators will patch it so that you have the option to play the old music instead or as well as Crownds stuff. I personaly feel more music would be a good thing as a game usually takes a fair while [:D] Oh and sorry if this is a bit flamey its not intentional [:)]

Like I said in my 2nd post in this thread, the original music was not an option for the commercial version. If Henrik thought he should have explained this, he would already have done so. As he didn't, then everybody already knows what everybody needs to know. As simple as that.

Yes, I should have read the sign 'Don't feed the troll', but hey. Anyways, with arguments like these, there's really nothing to say. They speak for themselves.

Now I'll leave the thread alone.

My stipulations on the music accepted for TOS:WS.

A) Well-produced.
B) Main-stream (nothing foolish or whacky sounding)
C) No singing during the game itself regardless of the message.
D) There were at least 2 occasions at which I personally asked David Heath to provide music for the game. He gave us several options for music. Crownd was the final choice.

If the music really is that offensive to you and you ant to change to other tracks for the game; You can!

Step 1: Grab a CD which you wish to use for this.
Step 2: Insert into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
Step 3: Rip 5 tracks as .wav format. Sample Rate 22k (I use AudioGrabber but others are fine)
Step 4: Rename the 5 tracks as theme0.wav thru theme4.wav
Step 5: Cut & Paste these into your Matrix games/ Titans of Steel: WarringSuns/ Sounds folder
Step 6: Start the game and enjoy your new tracks!
