I replied 'online advertisement', but it was really the Matrix front page, I play other Matrix games, so I visit regulalry. I heard about the original on the Underdogs site, but wasn't really interested due to the lack of SP.

Guess I actively searched.. A friend back in the day had the Ralph Reed game and a few of us played that on his Amiga without mercy. Couple years later, I remembered how much fun that game was, so I did a search on the net to see if it was still around and for a PC. Thats when I found its superior successor.. ToS 1.2. since then I've kept up with ToS on and off over the years.

I was definitely actively searching for a good mech-like game when I stumbled across ToS.

A glimpse of what's beyond
Was it just imagination
Stringing us along?
More things than are dreamed about
Unseen and unexplained
We suspend our disbelief
And we are entertained

The print ad's (if there were any) had been completely missed by me, but when I saw the review of a 'Giant Robot' turned based game in PC Gamer I got it ASAP.

Hetzer lured me into ToS 1.4 and I've been hooked since. :)

Dumb question: What is the 'lack of SP'?

Mateo: Do you regulary read gaming magazines? If so, which ones do you read on a regular basis.

I downloaded v1.4 from the Underdogs site; links from that download, or from the site, or from various websearches eventually led me here... which led me to buy TOS:WS. :)

Someone on the Stars! forum mentioned it when I was playing regularly a couple of years ago. 1.4 then WS.

I found out about WS through sarna.net (Slayer posted an announcement on the site's front page that ToS:WS had been released to the public), but I think I may have unknowingly heard of this game about two years ago. Someone posted on sarna.net an invitation for anyone interested in helping develop a new 'Mech combat game (or something to that effect; it's been a while). I replied, was invited to join a Yahoo message group, but became disinterested when I realized how much I was going to have to read just to catch up, the group having several hundred messages already posted. Is this that project? And which category should I vote? None of the choices really fit.

I heard about TOS:WS over at the gonegold.com forums. The chat about this game overthere was about all I need to jump right on it.

I bought a pack of over 2000 freeware and shareware games a few years ago, one of them was Tos 1.1.
As soon as I tried it i got hooked, and I´ve been playing it or its "sequels?" till now.

BTW, the other 1999 or more games sucked

I saw the box in a store and, since I played and loved the old Battletech game (Mechwarrior?) on the Amiga, I was immediately interested. Now I'm hooked.

Review( In Print )

Post by Ger'miah KaI'ic »

I saw TOS:WS in a PC Gamer Mag. just flipping by and saw the " Factory " print of a titan got my eye and started reading. It sound like something I've never played before on my computer and it was Battle Tech / Mech Warriors . I have played the other first person/ **** pit style MEch game and like them, always looking for something new and different. So Far i'm enjoying it alot, i dont see that changing in the future.

I saw it here at Matrix...

As for spreading the word - I own many games, MW3 and MC1 & 2 included. I mention TOS:WS on the boards there for the old-timers where I can along with a link. Even had some replies mentioning seeing it in PC Gamer. :D

I saw a review of Korsun Pocket in a magazine, came to the website (and was already familiar with it from SPW@W), saw ToS:WS, and purchased at CompUSA.

Saw the game on the shelf at CompUSA. I knew about Matrix games from reviews like Korsun Pocket, and ToS was sitting next to KP on the shelf. Hadn't played any mech-like games since the original Battletech games (Activision?) or maybe the Sierra/Dynamix Cyberstorm game and wanted to try it out.

Saw the box at EBGames here in Montreal, but it was over a month and a half before I remembered to look up some reviews. Liked what I saw and the rest is, well, history.
