Connection problem

A friend and I play 1.4 without problem over the internet, but can't seem to even make a connection (pinging without effect) with WS. Where should we be looking to correct this? (Old systems? 55.6k modem link? ICQ interference? ..)

I hate to be Captian Obvious, but make sure the IP is correct

I suspect a firewall is to blame however.

Larkin posted a quick reference guide for netgames in the Opponents Wanted room. Maybe that can help?
Should probably be the IP, like Coyote said.

Probably not the IP, as the first WS game I tried to set up on the internet was against Prince Corrin, and we a series of crashes both at his end and mine prevented us playing. Presumably this is linked to the problem, as my machine is the common factor. Waiting on a new system setup disc from my ISP.

.. oh and thanks for the reminder about the network game setup page. I'll have another look and double check what I'm doing. My friend's away for a week, and I don't want to muck anyone here about, so it may be a week before I make more reports.
