The automatic should have set decent Stockpile goals. And the Private Industries Freighters and Mining ships should eventually fill them up.
Unless you are a merchant guild - which can controll mining ships - you have exactly 0 options.

Nice. But It doesn't seem to be doing that. I have progressed years and still can't build ships in those locations.

We need more then "does not work".

Are the storage goals good?
Do freighters go there?
Any shortages in Private Funds or building resources?

When have oyu last verified the gamefiles? DW2 files break. A LOT.

The follow on questions suggest there is something I should be doing :D

The files are good, I verified them in working the crashing issues.

The ghost fleet bases does appear to be getting freighters. They are short some resources, but the storage goals are set. The discovered and repaired base says no resource shortage. It also has all resources set to 0. No freighters appear to travel there, even though it is in my home system.

No shortage in private funds or in overall building resources. (main star base functions fine.)

If the Storage Goals are aset to 0, that is propably it.

For stations that do not mine, that seems to be "deliver until I have at least that much".

I am not 100% sure how this works with stations that can mine that resource.
Or think that they can mine that resources, like some found or captured spaceports.

Why does AI sometimes refuse to build passenger ships? I have a buildable design and private cash (relatively low - 5-8k, but freighters were built regularly).

I asume you got a Touris station or 2nd planet go get people to?

There is a issue where ocasionaly the Private Economy just stops building Civil ships (of a certan type), untill it has enough to build a lot of them a at once.
If you think you have such a case, consider making a bug report about it.

Yes, I have 1 resort and 2 small colonies. In last games Ai usually built 3 passenger ships at once but now it hasn't enough cash for 3 of them. And i can't force it to save some money for 3 passenger ships.

Dead end.
Just report it. Every report helps making it clear to the devs that is a issue that needs a pass.

Found the solution. I've decreased taxes to zero, privates got 30k cash and ordered 9 passenger ships. :lol:

Can you merge fleets or make existing fleets bigger (i.e. have more ships)?

I'm in early game and found the Defence fleets with mostly 3 Escorts or the latest fleets with 3 Frigates to be weak. I need to stack them in combat to minimize ship losses - so I'd like them to be bigger. :geek:

You can not merge fleets, but you can put as many ships into 1 fleet as you want.
Simply add ships, while having that part of fleet auto-management off.

Is there a way to look at tourism income? I remember (probably, wrong) the game had such information in earlier versions but now it hasn't.

That should be under Empire Cashflow, as or around Bonus Income.

When does colonization chance actually applied? Say, I am trying to colonize a planet with population on it. After some gifts and treaties the adviser recommends colonization because they "love me". I can click on agree to the adviser suggestion, or I can go into colonization tab - it will show that the chance of colonization is 100%. But then, when the colonizer actually arrives, long time has passed and the chance is usually zero or quite small. So, I am making a large gift when the ship approaches the planet. Do I need to do this? Is this when the chance to colonize actually applied?

Success Chance is based on relations.
Gifts give you a quick boost of relations, but they fall of very quickly too. The trust you need for the stable baseline of relations, that takes time.

The value is sampled when the colony ship hits the planet. Anything before that is simply a indicator what the current relations mean.

There is no auto-pause feature, excluding event popups. Since research notifications are only messages, modding the game to pause for research isn't easy.

You can make a long research que, however, or automate it. Even with automation, you can make long research ques such that the AI only selects a technology if the que completes.

Thanks for the response, Nightskies. I was afraid I'd get an answer like that. I'm used to the HOI series where you can automatically stop the action when you get a new tech.
