Hunting in the Woods - Czechoslovakian Grognard Decisive Victory

Post by GeorgeCostanza »

Short sweet and intense mission just how we like it. Felt really fun and challenging and I had to work for that win in the first time run. Managed to nab the right defensive positions to really hit those US forward formations hard in the beginning. The veteran tank company of T55s put in great work in the ridge overlooking the B470 west of the Haidennaab river. The Konkurs BRDMs also carried their weight well although sadly the veteran platoon was lost in close contact but not after taking out plenty of the enemy.

In order of devastation the toughest US assets to face were the Apaches, Abrams and the M901s. No Apaches were killed in the making of this save game... our best bet was simply not being caught in the open. The Apaches "only" managed to decimate a motor rifle company and regimental HQ. The Abrams ripped through the other T55 company like it was paper, but once they started digging into Schwarzenbach it came down to pinning them down with the 122s and picking them off with battalion AT assets. The M901s were glass cannons that hurt when they had the right positioning but were easily dispatched in CQC.

Casualties were worst with the motor rifle companies but they were the star players that kept the enemy spotted and engaged for artillery and konkurs to keep up the fight. Kept the SOP as withdrawing under fire so they didnt accidentally walk into situations they couldnt handle. If the US side did have M109 support in this scenario though, the CZ forces would be a pushover.
