Air-dropped nuclear weapons

Post by Zumwalt_446 »

Greetings all,

With the release of the modding guides, I have been trying to implement air-dropped nuclear weapons in the game. I have the following lines added to the base US data file (obviously copied into a separate directory):

In "Munition Types":
NWB1_NUKE1 NWB1 B61 Test Nuclear Bomb NUKE AA 1 25000 8250 0 11 0 0 ANCR hvy arty.wav

In "Systems":
NWB1 B61 Test Nuclear Bomb AIB AA 1 100000 100000 0 0 0 0 bomb.wav

In "Units":
US42A F-16A Falcon (Nuclear Capable) F16.png NS-AIRAT.png Test Nuclear Capable F-16 AIRAT AIRAT 1979 1983 1 Jet 2400 0 13 18900 4 5 ABLW, AVS, NON DCM, ECM NVC, RWR2 NWB1:NWB1_NUKE1*1 8

All of this works well up to the point of allowing me to add the armed F-16 unit to a scenario and give it an airstrike order. However, when it executes the air strike, the nuclear effect is not applied after "A/C engaging ground targets" is displayed and no damage is inflicted on the targeted units. The aircraft also retains its munitions after going into R&R rather than expending them.

Can anyone tell me what might be happening here?

Right off the top, you do not need a munition. A weapon system coded like the one in the US or Soviet data file should work, but I am not 100 percent sure an airstrke can do an NBC attack in the game currently.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!
