Inluenced by Warplan Pacific?

Post by ClaudeJ »

Hey there,

is Alvaro Sousa involved in Strategic Command WWII – War in the Pacific?
He has experience in both the franchise and game design in that theater.

Cheers

Not that I know of. Alvaro got his start in the industry with mods and expansions of the original Strategic Command but he has his own game studio to tend to now. I could be wrong but most business people aren't too keen on working on a product that competes with their own.

I think that is generally true, but Al is a very reasonable and honorable human being, so I expect that his comments and input would always be (a) genuine and (b) useful. Just my own opinion, based upon years of experience with Al, Hubert, Bill and of course the team at Slitherine/Matrix.

Good question. Can anyone highlight the differences? I’m thinking about getting this, partly because I never made it over the hump to really get into WP PACIFIC.

I can tell you straight out that Alvaro is not. He just released Kingdom, Dungeon, and Hero. A great fantasy game which combines a simple kingdom building game along with a simple RPG element. You can find it on steam. :P

He plans to start working on WarPlan2 (global) this year and hopefully release it in 2025. What Alvaro did in his Warplan pacific game was to add many more features surrounding naval combat from his original Warplan game. This was key in making the pacific version of the game a great success. I'm not sure SC Pacific will have those type of adjustments going from SC Europe. Guess we will find out all of that next week.

Oh interesting I did not know he had released his fantasy game yet. I guess he is not partnering with Matrix on this one...
