Ditto. Was wondering how this was going to play out.
Also, waiting on the next patch so I can rumble and tumble with you, Tanaka. 😁

Hi Guys. Sorry for the delay. Been super-busy at work, and just finished dealing with no less than two hurricanes (Helene and Milton). Fortunately, my family faired much better than most, but it's impacting my work (have offices in Tampa). I have a turn sitting in my in-box and and no less than 8 turns to post. Things are a bit hectic at the moment, trying to get my head above water (fortunately not literally). Going to be a full week, and then next weekend going to (try to) retrieve my son from University (gas permitting, and it might not permit!).

So please bear with me. I'll get back to this, I promise!

Holy Cow! Finally, an update!

So after recovering from two hurricanes in a row, then a burned up vid-card, and finally ending up just replacing my PC, i'm finally back on-line. Reality is, I do have the backups of several turns, but I think it's best to just "resume" - as in, I'm just going to post the CURRENT turn 44-02-15, with some notes for catch-up.

SouthEast Asia and Dutch East Indies

The war is NOT going well. The Allies were able to "drip attack" into several DEI locations (you can't defend everything). Also my Fleet has/was very banged-up, and I wasn't able to mount an effective defense anywhere in DEI. Most of the fleet actions in the last few months (if you could call it that), were off NE Philippines: my fleet wasn't really able to venture into DEI to defend it.

You can see that Java has been liberated, only a hold-out in Palembang. Landings in Malaya have liberated Singapore. Saigon is about to fall also. Thailand is split, but holding (sort of).

It's a mess.

China and Philippines

China was the undoing. Frankly, was/is/has been a huge siphon of resources/MPPs. It's just not sustainable. You've got to commit a lot of resources just to keep it from collapsing in 1943 (and you can see that it's collapsed). The drain on MPPs/resources keep you from reinforcing elsewhere. (shrug)

So...

China has collapsed (relatively quickly in the last 4 months of 1943/44).

Invasions in Philippines and Taiwan.

He's completely ignored the Central Pacific (not a bad strategy I suppose). I don't really want to give those NatMorale locations for fee though, so those guys will remain there.

And I've posted the defenses that have been activated and otherwise beginning to reinforce the Home Islands.

Losses - At this point, he's dominating the air and sea. I was able to "even trade" up until about the near-end of 1943. But at this point, what's left of my fleet that isn't under water, is heavily damaged. The carriers that I bought, made one good sortie (sank 2x BBs and CL off Phillipines), but I haven't been able to replace their aircraft, and he's picking them off. You can see that I've moved most of my fleet to NE Japan. It's only a matter of prob less than 4 turns before he sweeps and slaughters all the cripples. I do feel some sense of "ok, at least I thumped him" - having killed 11x BBs and 3x CVs (in addition to the expected 5 from game start).

MPPs - The economy is wrecked. :)

Production - Kamis are first arriving. Let's see if the "Divine Wind" can sweep away the Allied invaders...

Strategic Map - You can see that most of the CentPac bases are completely intact. He might need to capture some of them for the National Morale gain. We'll see, he's going to get a huge boost as China and Manchuria are liberated: I'm curious to see if he even needs CentPac or Home Islands.

Bravo nice to have you back! Your China situation is interesting as there has been a lot of talk of nerfing Japan in China in the forum. You should add your 2 cents!

SouthEast Asia and Dutch East Indies

Chinese and Indian troops continue to grind our forces around Bangkok. Losses are heavy on both sides, but it's only a matter of time before the Imperial defenders are worn down.

The landing of Australian Marines near Saigon, destroys the HQ of Chandra Bose, and Saigon is captured.

Meanwhile, and unopposed landing at Brunei captures the city.

In Malaya, British forces advance north along the peninsula from Singapore; and the siege of Palembang continues.

China and Philippines

The collapse of Japanese presence in China continues.

In the north, Chinese forces in the north liberate Zhengzhou and continue to press towards Manchuria.

In Center, Nanjing falls, and Chinese forces race to Shanghai.

In South, fighting near Nanning, splits off a IJA Army, and Nanning is now exposed. Defense of Canton collapses, and Hong Kong is liberated. Imperial resistance on Taiwan ends.

On one win - Allied forces operating off Chinese coast were spotted by our cripple fleet (a BB and CV). Our Divine Wind did manage to sink a USN CV. I'll probably lose the BB and CV that I used for "scouting", but at least it felt good to thump him.

Losses - Ground losses for Japan continue to mount. On the plus side, I sank a CV. One of the Kamis was destroyed by his air-strikes. It took 3x Kamis to kill his CV. My Kamis were upgraded with 2-range, and 2-antiship, with cost 55mpp each. So that was 165mpp vs. whatever he had for the CV (I'm guessing about 350? with upgrades).

MPPs - Pretty much all I get is what is produced from the Home Islands.

Production - Build 4x Kamikazes.

Home Islands - Just a closer shot of the Home Islands. It seems kinda pointless to give a Strategic Map.

The Empire continues to crumble.

SEAC

On the plus-side, we counter-attacked his Chindits near Bangkok, wiping them out.

Everywhere else, the Allies Advance.

[That's odd, it's not letting me attach the pics. It says 10mb max, but these jpgs are only 1.5mb each?]

China and Philippines

He's really just mopping up China at this point.

Several USN CVs exacted vengeance on my "scouting" CV and BB, sinking both. They also destroyed 2x Kamikaze units at their airfields in Japan.

Manilla is recaptured by the US Army, and Shanghai falls.

Also the Allies invade Iwo Jima (no surprise there). He destroyed the AAA unit, but might need to bring more AV units to hit my SNLF defenders. Dunno, he's been pretty thorough at wiping my guys out thus far.

MPPs - The end is near.

Production - Build 2x Kamikazes.

Just wanted to post the ending. I (Allies) captured Mukden, Beijing, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki in February-ish 1944, which caused Japan's NM to drop and surrender.

It was a fun game. Feinder and I have swapped sides and are in July 1942 in a new game. Sorry, no AAR from him this game, though they are entertaining.
