How to deal with aircraft?

At least with default settings the AI uses a lot of aircraft with generated missions and campaigns.

How do deal with the aircraft? I'm using manpads and guns but they are not very successful. Guns rarely hit and teams run out of missiles. Instead the aircraft seem be doing direct attacks against my AA ignoring the fire coming directly at them.
I had some success with chapral and gepard with radar but usually second air strike is directed at my AA and I lose them.

Even more AA units? Change positions?

And how does my aircraft with aa missiles work? Do I need to call them or is it automatic?

Aircraft use them automatically if they spot targets when on-map.

My experience is different. I've just played a mission in which two of my Jaguars were both taken down on the same attack run. Not the first time that happened.

My AA units (guns or missles) have had kills, but it seems rare. Also, my planes don't seem to drop accurate ordinance (although the AI does a lot better at killing my units). I understand there may be some balance involved (?). I haven't tried to mess with any adjustments to unit abilities or ordinance loads/capabilities (through the editor), but was curious is there's a way to modify this to be more beneficial?

Anti-air lethality (or lack thereof) is absolutely realistic. Even during the worst period at the start of the 1973 war, IAF aircraft losses amounted to three aircraft per 200 sorties, whereas in modern terms, a loss rate of six aircraft per 1,000 sorties is considered unsustainable. Aircraft are surprisingly survivable per sortie—probably even more so than in the game.

As for bomb accuracy, they are, after all, dropping dumb bombs.
