Day of Infamy AAR Allies, full turn-by-turn
Day of Infamy AAR Allies, full turn-by-turn
This is full AAR from our rematch: Jazon(Allies) vs Petisch(Japan)
Feel free to comment, and ask questions. This AAR was made for other players, who would like to see some real multiplayer record, in form of written raport. In my opinion it might be helpfull for begginners to understand the dynamic and challenges in such a grand campaign scenario. I specifically described strategies for each year, goals and motivations behind my decisions. I hope it will help you design your own brilliant moves! Since turn 3 there will be screeshots.
Turn 0
I play again against Petisch! This time he will lead the Japanese Empire, and I will command the Allies.
My main strategy for the 1942 is to defend India and China. I do not take into consideration serious threat to Australia. Supplementary goals are: to inflict casualties to IJN and make "harass" landings across Pacific Islands, because most probably they won’t be garrisoned. Any foothold captured now will either benefit me in the future, either will force Japanese player to spent time and resources to recapture them. And in long run, every MPP that Axis player spent now on replacements or recapturing small islands, is not MPP spent on upgrades.
In perspective of the whole game investment in air force is key to victory. I will avoid any naval combat until I will get AA tech 1 and Naval Weapons tech 1. I will also invest in submarines, because they are good for recon, raiding and making IJN overextended. To sum up, I may resign from supplementary goals, if their realization will conflict with main strategu goal.
Turn 1 December 17, 1941.
US&Pacific: Pearl Harbor action as historical. I withdrew BB from Honolulu to the rear island. Small task force from US Navy will form north to Hawaii, in case he would like to take Midway in following turns. If it will be clear I will send it west for Dolittle Raid in early 1942.
Japanese landings on Philippines by the book: Corps north to Manila was cut off. IJN completely surrounded the Archipelago, and initially destroyed US Heavy Cruiser and Light Cruiser. I tried to run away with destroyer but it run into Jap Cruiser. Submarine also tried to run, but it encountered destroyer. I withdraw it near Hainan. I am afraid all Philippines squadron will be sunk next turn.
China: I moved two Armies in direction of Burma, and another Army near Yicheng. Japanese artillery spotted around Wuhan. Stillwell HQ formed, it will move to Burma as well. Meanwhile Chinese need to save MPPs for additional HQ for North China.
India/Burma: I upgraded garrisons on the way to Rangoon. I hope it will slow down the Japs, who are already in Bangkok. I also moved garrison from Nepal into railroad hex, in case I would need to operate them next turn.
Other theaters: Royal Navy north to Singapore was destroyed, but Japanese did not focus on Singapore, instead they landed a bit north-west and eliminated UK fighter. I tried to flee with destroyer from Singapore, but I run into Cruiser. Borneo captured by Japs.
Science and Diplomacy: No
Remarks: I noted the quantity of IJN, it is at the beginning of the turn in info Pop-Up. 2 Super battleships, 7 Battleships, 8 Cruisers, 5 destroyers, 4 carriers, 1 escort carrier, 2 subs. It will help me calculate how much of his fleet I actually do not see.

Re: Day of Infamy AAR Allies, full turn-by-turn
Turn 3 January 6 , 1942.
US&Pacific: All US Philippines Navy squadron, including Seal Sub was sunk. None survived. It is a sad day in Allied Headquarters. There was not much to do, IJN set the trap meticulously. The same fate was met by Royal Navy around Singapore. Task force north to Hawaii formed, it is accompanied by 1st Marine Division which will garrison Midway at least for the time being. After delivering Marines to Midway, This small Task force including USS Enterprise Carrier, a Cruiser and two destroyers will sail west to perform Dolittle Raid.
China: Chinese Armies performed good attack near Wuhan, harming Japanese Army(-5, it withdrew), using communication on inner lines (unit swap). I bought a core that I will deploy close to Xikang, so in future I can get MPPs from this region. Other points went to fully reinforce artillery unit, and rest of them for Tactical planes, but it wasn’t enough to reinforce it in full. Next I need to buy HQ and AA unit. India/Burma: British HQ formed in Mandalay. Two Chinese Armies are approaching Mandalay from the north. Stillwell is following them via Burma road. I’ve sent Nepal garrison to Chittagong by rail. I reinforced garrisons in Rangoon and Moulmein. I wonder how long they can resist. Each turn I control Rangoon it provides valuable supply going by sea to the Chinese. Other theaters: I fully reinforced garrison at Port Moresby, and Australian SF at Brisbane. I reinforced Singapore corps, hope it will buy me some time.
Remarks: I’ve set maximum for convoy US-China (83MPPs), I want to strengthen the Chinese as much as possible. The same with Australia Convoys, to UK, i set them Max (29MPPs). Generally I remain calm and stick to the plan(Main strategic goals for 1942).
Science and Diplomacy: UK invested in AA defense, US invested in Naval Weaponry.

Re: Day of Infamy AAR Allies, full turn-by-turn
Turn 5, January 26 1942
US&Pacific: 1st marines division added to Midway garrison. Now Island is sealed from weak landing. I did it, because in ma last match with Petisch when I played Axis, I actually took Midway around this time in the game. Navy Task force sailed north west, to approach for Dolittle Raid.
China: Japanese made weak attack south to Changsha, hex with mines, it was easily repelled. One Army from Lanzhou goes south, to replace troops that left to Burma. Stillwell and two armies continue march around Mandalay. I saved 212 MPPs for this HQ I want for North China. Interestingly IJN still keeps a destroyer and a cruiser next to Fuzhou.
India/Burma: I sent Nepal garrison form Chittagong to Port Blair(the Island south-west to Rangoon). Surprisingly, garrison in Moulmein survived Japanese attack, and was immediately reinforced. Another turn bought to sent supplies to China, and to gain entrenchment for garrison at Rangoon. If Japanese continue to be sluggish, I may be able to send by rail Chinese Army to Burma’s capital, before Japanese come. I saved 90 MPPs for upcoming reinforcements, because those troops will come under strength.
Other theaters: Philippines surrendered after Japanese Army took Manila. Only Corregidor remains. US artillery sent from Australia to Guadalcanal. McArthur waits to be reinforced in Brisbane. Australian commander suffered a brain fart: Kanga Force was transported by sea to Rabaul, only to discover that port strength is 3, which unable to unload the troops the same turn. Poor bastards were left vulnerable in the Rabaul port. They will be able to unload next turn, unless Japanese player will rip this low hanging fruit. We will see if they will be lucky, and I need to avoid that kind of silly mistakes. Singapore awaits final Japanese assault. Will they survive 2 armies and 1 SF? Next turn they should have entrenchment 4, so there is a chance. What’s more important, till Japanese get Singapore they won’t get Paratroopers unit.
Remarks: Where is IJN? When he will attack Dutch East Indies? Each turn he doesn’t have it, he doesn’t get income from there(I remember it gives around 100MPP’s each turn, so it is significant). I need to remember I fully reinforced Cachalot sub at US coast. I don’t know yet where to send it.
Science and Diplomacy: UK invested in Industrial Tech, US invested in AA defence, US also invested 100MPPs(2chits) in diplomacy to push Tibet towards Nationalist China.

Re: Day of Infamy AAR Allies, full turn-by-turn
Turn 7 February 15, 1942
US&Pacific: Corregidor fell. I agreed to reflate Nevada Battleship. Task Force proceed for Dolittle Raid. Next turn they should reach the required position. I am approaching from the north, a bit down to Aleutian Islands. I hope I won’t met any IJN there. Rest of American fleet will concentrate around Hawaii. They are too weak to do anything yet against IJN.
China: Chinese lost one Army in fortifications near Yicheng. That hurts. I tried to counterattack, but that seemed futile. I moved the army from Lanzhou South. I need reinforcements there. I bought HQ (Sun, skill 6). Afterwards I need to strengthen the south. I am worried about situation there. India/Burma: Japanese destroyed Moulmein garrison, and their tanks approach Rangoon. But this turn supply from USA will go once more to Chinese. Chinese Armies reached central Burma, but they are exhausted and have tragic morale (6-7%each). They won’t be able to help Rangoon. They need to stop. I hope they can block Japanese until the British will mobilize more forces. British bought for half-price this fighters which were destroyed at the beginning of a war in Malaya. In Burma battles, air support is crucial because of the „bottleneck” character of the terrain. I hope those fighters could spoil some Japanese blood. Other theaters: Singapore fell. Kanga Force successfully unloaded into Rabaul.
Remarks: I checked the morale of my forces, and there is something seriously wrong with my Chinese and British forces. Their max is 38%, when they are entrenched in a town or city, otherwise its even less. At the same time Japanese troops near Wuhan have morale above 100%. That’s worrisome! Hopefully China already have chit invested into Infantry Warfare. I need to invest in Naval construction for USA.

Re: Day of Infamy AAR Allies, full turn-by-turn
Turn 9 March 7, 1942
US&Pacific: American Samoa was taken by Japanese! I did not expect landing so deep into East Pacific. This is not a major issue so far, but it will cause some fuss. I actually had no forces to prevent that. I will need to recapture that.
Navy Task Force got into position for Dolittle raid, north east to Japan Islands. US bought AA unit and fully reinforced two Battleships. Cachalot Sub went in direction of Samoa, I want to recon a bit what’s going on over there. The best would be to make a trap around that port to prevent another surprise landing on nearby Islands. US NAVY slowly concentrate its forces around Hawaii. Its far more too weak yet, and it’s bare naked in terms of Naval Weaponry and AA. Additional US sub appeared half-strength in Frementale, Australia. I need to buy airships and deploy them somewhere around Samoa in order to patrol the area.
China: Hengyang mines south to Changsha were taken, and defending it Army was destroyed. Japanese also attacked Fuzhou. The amount of Chinese troops in South front are shrinking! Army from Lanzhou finally got to Chongqing, so next turn it will be able to go by rail to the front. Situation is worrisome. I also bought an Army for China, and reinforced some troops. I will need soon additional core to secure Urumqi. India/Burma: Rangoon garrison repelled first assault, and was reinforced. Chinese troops will stay north digging in, and recovering morale (hopefully). British 7th light tanks in Ceylon was reinforced and next turn I will try to send it to Burma. I need to be careful, because IJN is not far away, blocking Dutch east Indies. I saved 100 MPP’s from this turn to reinforce incoming British troops. Australia is sending max MPP’s to India via convoys. Other theaters: Japanese landed on Dutch East Indies, attacked Batavia corps, but it survived the hit, and was reinforced. I wonder If they can make it more then one turn. I tried to run away with Dutch fleet, but IJN blocked all routs out, and I run into his ships. Damn! I moved fighters more east, so maybe if they won’t give up next turn I will be able to move them to Australia. Remarks: I am really concerned about the Chinese South Front. One good thing, I guess Chinese Communists will soon join the fight, and Nationalists HQ will be deployed in the North, so maybe I will be able to attack there, and tie up some Japanese forces.

Re: Day of Infamy AAR Allies, full turn-by-turn
Turn 11, March 27, 1942
US&Pacific: Dolittle raid event was triggered, and USS Enterprise with accompanying ships withdraw north-east. Cachalot Sub approached American Samoa and encountered Japanese Light Cruiser. I wonder if it is a part of bigger armada, or just a lone escort. Holland Sub in Perth was reinforced. Where should I send it? America bought 2 Marines and 1 Airship. I need some boots on the ground. China: I deployed light tanks unit in Urumqi, in order to quickly gain MPP and morale bonus. All Chinese points I spent on reinforcing southern front. And I made a mistake, because there was no points left to operationally move army from Chongqing. Good thing tough, that the weather turned ground into mud, and any advance Japanese may make, will be limited.
India/Burma: Rangoon garrison was reinforced, maybe it will hold on another turn. British 7th light tanks sailed to Chitagong. Additional core appeared on Ceylon, as well as Warspite battleship, which I deployed in Bombay. I bought an Army unit for British, and used remaining points to reinforce British HQ in Imphal.
Other theaters: The Dutch were absolutely annihilated. Not a single vessel survived IJN blocakde. Japanese landed at Rabaul, but with little success. Kanga Force counterattack and forced Japanese to withdraw on the other edge of the Island. Since Airfield value drop to 1, I believe soon those Japanese marines will have supply issues. Good they will be stuck there. Remarks: So far, I recognize Chinese southern front as sensitive area. Japanese moved there additional airplanes, to support their attacks. As soon as possible I need to buy AA for Chinese.

Re: Day of Infamy AAR Allies, full turn-by-turn
Turn 13, April 16 1942
US&Pacific: Japanese took another Island in Western Samoa, and Fiji Islands! That’s part of some greater plan then... They also landed with marines at Nauru Island. US bought 1 Marines, 1 Maritime Bomber and 1 Corps. Task Force Dolittle withdraw north to Hawaii. US sub in Perth finally fully reinforced and ready to go.
China: I finally transported Army from Chongqing to Changsha. I deployed a core next to Chengdu it will move to secure Xikang. Other points all spent to reinforce front units. Of course I forgot about Fuzhou, but due to the naval blockade, it supply was getting low anyway. The problem is it will liberate two Japanese Armies...
India/Burma: Rangoon stands firm, but I spotted Japanese Army approaching from Thailand. They may not survive the next assault. Chinese forces in North regain morale and increase entrenchment. Australian Core from Ceylon was sent south into deep blue sea, it will turn next turn and sail to Australia. I will need them to react for those micro landings. Also Burma seem alright so far. Ceylon British corps was reinforced, I will send it to Chittagong next turn.
Other theaters: There must be some Jap plan to land maybe around Port Moresby, because a garrison in North of Australia was mobilized. Kanga Force moved from Rabaul and attacked those Jap marines. Jap ships blocked the Rabaul port. I hope there is no second wave of landing, because the city is empty.
Remarks: I still regard China front as the biggest strategic challenge. Although Japanese taking Samoa and Fiji worries me. The problem is I don’t have enough forces to resist or counterattack yet. My whole US NAVY consists of: 4 Battleships, 2 Carriers, 2 Cruisers, 1 Light Cruiser, 2 destroyers and 2 subs. That’s it, and it is all not upgraded. I think It is a crime to send them in combat with those numbers and tech level against IJN.
Science and Diplomacy: Soviets invested 1 chit in Spying&Intelligence, UK invested in Production tech ( I remember those Burma campaigns to be bloody, prod tech should ease the burden a bit in a long run).

Re: Day of Infamy AAR Allies, full turn-by-turn
Turn 15, May 6, 1942
US&Pacific: American Corps mobilized in New Caledonia. That’s good news. US NAVY is all concentrated in Hawaii, except for subs. I loaded Marines from Midway into Amphibious transport. Washington demands some action, because Americans look really passive. I will try to land them at Marshall Islands. I am not sure yet should I cover them with my fleet. I have no idea where are Japanese carriers. If I lost one marine unit it would be acceptable, but losing my fleet... America bought 1 fighter and 1 Marines. I filled the limit for Marines, so I hope by the end of 1942 I will have enough force to make some harassment landings, or retake Samoa and Fiji. We will see. China: Japanese took Fuzhou. I spotted Japanese paratroopers in the south, that made me move my Army from fortress to Hechi. Also I withdrew Chinese units behind Changsha, it is time to bottleneck the Japanese assault, I am suffering heavy losses fighting in wide formation. Xikang is secured by corps, so now Urumqi and Xikang should all contribute to the war effort. I wonder what is he going to do with those Paratroopers, in case I moved my Tactical Bombers to Kunming. Theoretically he could reach there. India/Burma: Burma surrendered after Rangoon fell. Two Chinese Units, Stillwell and Chennault HQ as well as Flying Tigers Fighters turned out to be „surrounded”. Fortunately I made some connections by moving tanks and HQ, so now there is corridor to Chittagong and Kohima. Supply dropped for this turn but next turn should be as usual. UK bought garrison, and I transported British corps from Ceylon to Chittagong.
Other theaters: There was second wave at Rabaul(facepalm). Kanga forces was cut off on the airfield by two Japanese Marines. I attacked on this weaken one, and it has 0 supply and only 1 point left, so I guess those Aussie commandos will take at least one Jap unit with them together to hell. Australian Corps passed south to Perth and head to East coast of Australia. It would be great to place it in Port Moresby.
Remarks: China is a headache. I need more units there!
Science and Diplomacy: Australia, USA and UK invested one chit each to influence Tibet. I also said yes to decision to create airlift to China. I hope it will start ASAP.

Re: Day of Infamy AAR Allies, full turn-by-turn
Turn 17, May 26 1942
US&Pacific: US Tanks with strength 3 appeared in New Zealand as Samoa was taken. One Marine Division is half-way from Midway to Wake Island. Another Marine division was loaded in Hawaii. I bought a sub and AA unit. US sub moved to Malaya strait to attack Japanese convoys. Finally this turn US researched Advanced Fighters and anti-submarine warfare, so next turn I will spend more on research and upgrades.
China: Finally additional HQ was formed and deployed at Xian. In the south front, I retreated from Changsha, because there are no chances to hold it, and I need to maintain manpower. I am looking forward to stop Japanese in the mountain ranges, where they can’t flank me. China bought Army and Garrison to replenish losses. India/Burma: Small regroup. Stillwell awaits Japanese attack. I am pretty content with position I have. I need UK to save points to change its horrible general over there. UK bought Free French garrison, I hope I could deploy it on French Island south to Hawaii. Other theaters: Kanga Force holds the airfield, but this sneaky Jap marine loaded itself into amphibious transport and left. I didn’t know you can do it with 0 supply. Anyway, pity. Australian core reached eastern Australia coast, but I am afraid it will be very dangerous to get to Port Moresby. I spotted two Japanese super battleships patrolling.
Remarks: Where are the Jap carriers!? I am getting paranoid, I even made some patrol with light cruiser and destroyer south to Hawaii, in case Petisch would try to make Pearl Harbor sequel.
Science and Diplomacy: Australia invested in Industrial Tech.

Re: Day of Infamy AAR Allies, full turn-by-turn
Turn 19, June 15, 1942
US&Pacific: Marines took Wake Island! Another Marines is heading towards Samoa accompanied by light cruiser. All US Carriers were upgraded to Advanced fighters 2, and destroyers were sent to ports to upgrade for ASW. But these landings are just for distraction. In second half of the year I would have more forces. For remaining points USA bought two garrisons. I want to put them on New Caledonia to guard the Islands, and relieve the corps which station there.
China: I withdrew Army from Yicheng, and blocked possible Jap pursuit by putting corps on Wu Gorge. I moved HQ deeper into my formation. Now, I assume, Japanese will be bottle-necked. Also my Engineers will continue to build fortifications. I want to buy AA unit, but all points was spent to reinforce damaged units, and it will continue next turn probably. I spotted some Jap unit approaching north front, but they don’t know I already got HQ there, so my core should be able to withstand. Also Chinese Red Army unlocked this turn. Next turn I want to buy artillery unit for them, I got 172 points saved by Communists. In south front I will try to conserve manpower. Also I don’t know what is he going to do with the Japanese Paras. India/Burma: Jap Army attacked Puyiama, I lost 3 points, and..that was it. I think those Stillwell troops will hold the line for time being. I replaced British rank 3 general to rank 7 Slim. That was essential.
Other theaters: Japanese landed on Guadalcanal! It turned out that if you are making landing near artillery it cause extra losses for the landing forces. It played well! And I didn’t know about it:) Those poor Kanga Force guys are stuck on airfield near Rabaul, but at least as long as they are there Japanese don’t get convoy income. There is strong IJN presence in the region. But still, NO CARRIERS. Where are they? Remarks: US and UK gained Command&Control 1 (I wish I could afford that for Chinese) and Australia is saving points for Army unit.
Science and Diplomacy: USA invested in Naval Weapons (second chit, I need it badly) and AA (also second chit) and Naval Construction. I invested so much in diplomacy over Tibet, and still no progress, although its 25% chance...

Re: Day of Infamy AAR Allies, full turn-by-turn
Turn 21, July 5 1942
US&Pacific: I reinforced marines on Wake Island. Another marines still heading to Western Samoa. I loaded AA unit from San Francisco, its goal is Elice Islands. Jap troops landed on New Hebrides, unfortunately, I couldn’t prevent it, my fleet still awaits Naval weapons and AA. My airship arrived, I deployed it on Hawaii, but I will send it to Brisbane, so it may patrol sea over there. I also bought cavlary division for USA, I might use it later in the game, to fill some gaps. China: Japanese destroyed my Army in Hechi, and my Core next to Changsha. I didn’t expect that they will be able to do it, but with air support they could. I spotted another two Armies near Zhengzhou, but I hope Red Army and Nationalists with HQ could stop them using terrain to their advantage. I’ve spent my points to reinforce survivors from my defeat on the first defense line. I hope, now, it will be harder for Japanese to advance through those mountain ranges. India/Burma: Japanese attacked again, they have two Armies there. I need to get my UK core and HQ closer to the front line. So far Stillwell’s Chinese are holding the perimeter. Also my fighter appeared, I deployed it at Calcutta, because it needed upgrades. I wait for British Army that I bought before, to come and stabilize the lines.
Other theaters: I deployed Free French garrison on Society Islands. Australia bought an Army unit. Next it should invent Infantry warfare.
Remarks: I can see pressure in China. Later in 1942, I hope I could upgrade my fleet at least for NW and AA level 1, and send my incoming Marines to take back Fiji, Samoa, and Guadalcanal, which will sooner or later fall.
Science and Diplomacy: US invested in Logistics.

Turn 23 July 19, 1942
US&Pacific: Wake Island marines embarked into Amphibious mode and they will head to Marshall Islands. Another Marines are approaching Samoa. Sub run into Light cruiser, I hope they won’t detect those marines. I deployed garrisons, corps and marines on the West Coast. I saved 100 MPP’s for future purchasing.
China: Japanese with support of their air force destroyed one Army west to Changsha. Damn. I thought they could survive. In north Red Army went to the front-line, as well as rear nationalists troops. I deployed additional Army at Xian. I bought also another Army and regrouped a bit in the south China. I observe the front situation with inner tension. I bought another Army for nationalists, and artillery unit for communists. China formed Ma Bufeng Cavalry division in the north. India/Burma: Japanese made their attack. I replied with air strike, and I swapped the army. Other theaters: There is on roaming Jap troop in amphibious transport south to Rabaul. Kanga Force was reinforced. Guadalcanal is holding up, now under pressure of three Jap divisions. Australia deployed AA next to Brisbane, Americans operationally transported airships and fighters to Australia under McArthur. Remarks: US launched Manhattan project.
Science and Diplomacy: UK got Industrial tech, US got Infantry Warfare tech. USA invested in Armoured Warfare.

Re: Day of Infamy AAR Allies, full turn-by-turn
Turn 25 August 14, 1942
US&Pacific: My battleship fired on American Samoa, just to find out that it is garrisoned, therefore, Marines landed on Western Samoa, and captured it, since it was not garrisoned. Another Marines approached Marshall Islands shores, but I spot garrison and AA unit dig in. I attacked, but couldn’t land. I will try to run away if it will be possible. I moved my AA unit to Ellice Island, I don’t want it to be captured without a fight. I loaded another Marines unit in transport and moved to Hawaii. Then it will join this Marines in western Samoa, and from there they would amphibious assault American Samoa. They will be followed by garrison units. I bought additional fighter for US.
China: I counterattacked in the North to weaken Japanese forces, do not let them dig in. It was mostly 1 to 1 losses ratio, but it’s fine. Points spent by Japanese to reinforce those troops are not the points spent on research or purchasing new units. In long run war of attrition is good with Allies. In south I guess Japanese are more or less bottle-necked now. I wonder if this Chinese Army next to artillery unit will survive next turn. It should have, it has art support, and entrenchment 3 on a mountains, morale above 50%. We will see. India/Burma: Japanese kept pressure, and my Army withdrew in unfortunate direction. I reinforced it, and I hope it will survive next turn. I bought additional Corps for UK because Burma will be a war of attrition and I don’t know for how long those Chinese Armies will hold. Other theaters: Japanese are super stubborn to capture Guadalcanal. All this area I spotted 7(!) Japanese marines units, and plenty of navy. I guess next turn brave defenders will be wiped out by the massive Japanese bayonet charges. One good thing about that, he must have spent loads of MPPs for loading marines for amphibious landings. He will miss those points in the future! Remarks: My navy is growing, I just needs those upgrades... I doubt he had enough points to upgrade all his fleet at this stage. As soon I will get Naval Weapons 1 and AA weapons 1 I will go hunt for some IJN. Also I am starting to think he keeps his Aircraft Carries in Japan. I haven’t seen them since 1941!
Science and Diplomacy: Australia invested in infantry warfare. Us invested in artillery weapons, but afterwards I noticed that Naval warfare is not researched for US. Unfortunately max research fund was reached so, I will need to launch this project later in the game. UK invented advanced fighters 2!

Re: Day of Infamy AAR Allies, full turn-by-turn
Turn 27, September 3, 1942
US&Pacific: Marine division that tried to land on Marshall Islands went back undisturbed and unloaded on Wake Island. What was really funny, is that, turn ago I deployed AA unit on Elice Island. Just after that Japanese marines came by, and tried to unload, but they were denied! IN my turn my lone Battleship escort almost destroyed it (it has 2 points now). I brought submarine closer, but I am not going to move my fleet yet. Na-aah. US bought Maritime bomber. One AA and two additional Marine divisions were deployed at the West coast of USA. One Marine unit is waiting near Hawaii for Western Samoa port to be back to 5 points. But maybe I will wait with it for my fleet upgrades. Don’t know yet.
China: Nothing really much happened (which is good for me!). In the north he moved his artillery there, but he didn’t have points/forgot to reinforce the armies facing Chinese Red Army. In south my Army attacked his, as soon as they entered the valley(It’s bottle necked, one hex attack width. It was 2:3, and I took it, because why not, let him lose points, and not let him entrench. I saved 130 points to buy an Army next turn.
India/Burma: He pushed this Chinese Army again ,and it survived with 1 strength point again! That’s the spirit. What is interesting I spotted two Japanese tanks heading through jungle in north Thailand, Chiang Mai. Well, let him try, there is shitty supply over there. I bought Commandos for UK, so in winter I would have 2 SF divisions there, very useful in jungle terrain. Other theaters: In case you guys forgot, Kanga Force is still on the airfield next to Rabaul:) Actually it means a lot in case of recon now. He saw for sure replay that battleship hit his amphibious transport next to Elice Island, and guess what happened! I spotted at least 3 Jap carriers moving around Rabaul - thanks to my SF unit still there. Remarks: US just received great news from their scientists! Naval Weapons 1, Infantry Weapons 1, Advanced Subs 1, Spying&Intelligence 1, Production tech 2, all researched just now! Next turn I will upgrade my fleet, so soon it will be ready to fight Japanese as equals! (Except for our Yankee growing numbers, hehehehe)

Re: Day of Infamy AAR Allies, full turn-by-turn
Turn 29, September 23, 1942
US&Pacific: Not much happened, US sub was trying to pursuit this Jap amphibious transport, but instead run into Light Cruiser and a Sub. One US marines loaded in amphibious transport in western Samoa, another cam by sea and is going to do it too, next turn, before they will invade American Samoa. USA got AA defenses tech and Long Range Aircraft tech this turn too. Many US vessels abandoned Hawai and went to West Coast ports for upgrades. Next two turns I will try to upgrade every single ship. Another US sub tried raiding convoys in Malaya strait but was located by Jap destroyer, so it run away into Celebes sea. All land units possible to upgrade with Infantry Weapons were done.
China: South - beloved silence. Silence means I (re)bought an Army and a core. In the north, Chinese counterattacked and forced one Jap Army to withdraw. In November there are going to be Chinese reinforcements, and I think most of them will go northern front. China also developed Infantry Weapons 1. Overall - quiet China is good(for now).
India/Burma: Nothing much happened. Those tanks lost themselves in rainy, jungle-hilly Thai-Burma borderland. Chinese Army was attacked, and reinforced. Chinese tactical bomber escorted by the RAF bombed and caused damaged to those crazy Jap tanks. Next thing for UK is to save for artillery unit. Other theaters: American airship took a peak out to the north-east and saw whole pack of Japanese Battleships! They were bombarding Port Moresby(the town), which supply dropped to 1, and one Jap marine landed north to it. I can’t do much about it, yet, but I wait for my maritime bombers. He lost some points bombing shore, and its good, he actually can’t afford expensive losses like that. Kanga Force become a legend, they provide invaluable recon for me. Remarks: Land units from USA - 2 marines, AA and a core are soon going to be send to Australia by southern Pacific. My plan is to tie his forces a bit, and recapture Fiji if possible, But we will see. I know he has got plenty of Marines in the area, I need to be careful.

Re: Day of Infamy AAR Allies, full turn-by-turn
Turn 31, October 13 1942
US&Pacific: 1st Marine from Wake Island loaded again in Amphibious transport. I will send them to Saipan, I got a strange feeling somewhere on those Islands there might be non garrisoned spot. If I lose them, well so be it, but anyways it will probably Japanese player to deploy more troops in the rear. Also it is according to my supplementary strategic goals for 1942. Of course US garrison is already nearby ready to replace marines on Wake. First wave of Marines landed on American Samoa, and weaken the Japanese defending garrison to 2 points, second wave loaded on western Samoa, garrison will come from transport unit next turn to cover. US NAVY is in rearming process, I spent all remaining points on it, and it will take two more turns. With Naval Weapons 1 and AA 1 I claim Navy become combat ready. China: Nothing happened in south(GREAT!). In the north I reinforced Red Army and Nationalists, also upgraded Inf weapons where possible. Later this year Chinese will receive Army, Corps and Special Forces unit. I guess I will deploy them all in the north, because Japanese are attacking there.
India/Burma: I upgraded Infantry Weapons for one Chinese army, and RAF fighters to level two. Apart from this nothing much, besides British core coming from the north to support Chinese Armies around Mandalay. Later in this year I will receive 2 Special Forces units for the British, and I assume this will help to seal this front, and maybe later will be foundation for offensive. British empire saved 100 points for artillery unit. I used Chinese tactical bomber to attack Jap tanks, but now it seems it brings only losses, so I will stop doing that.
Other theaters: Japanese landed near Port Moresby and hit the Australian garrison. Without supply it surrendered at the end of the turn. However busy with this, Japanese player forgot to bomb from ships Keravat Airfield, so it recovered its supply to 2, and It enabled to reinforce Kanga Force to 5. Australia awaits a core and an army unit later this year, and now is saving for artillery unit.
Remarks: I wonder what Petisch will do now, when Port Moresby is captured. Will he invade Australia? Science and Diplomacy: China invested in Command&Control.

Turn 33, November 2 1942
US&Pacific: American Samoa liberated! Next stop Fiji Islands. Holland Sub raiding near Taiwan luckilly damaged Kagashima BB, first it run into US sub, then, in my turn I hit it again, and flee. Japanese Battleship has 3 points left. Great! He will need to spend a lot to repair it! 1st Marines entered blue sea on its way to Saipan. So far undetected. US NAVY almost completed its upgrading. Two marines divisions sailed south to Hawaii with destination Australia. USA also bought a garrison. I upgraded my first Maritime Bomber at San Francisco, and next turn send it to Australia. China: All quiet South and North. Chinese used it to upgrade some of their armies and corps. All points spent on this purpose. Chinese Special Forces was deployed North, as well as communist artillery unit.
India/Burma: Quiet. British Empire reinforced its fighters, and bought artillery unit. Also One British core reached north to Manadaly. Windgate Chindits were deployed. Also British are slowly reinforcing their Battleships and Carrier. One Battleship left to fully reinforce. Naval Weapons are in research, AA defense just arrived this turn, so later on British navy reinforcements will come combat-able.
Other theaters: After months of stubborn fighting, Kanga Force was eliminated by Japanese marines. This unit provided invaluable intel observing surrounding waters.
Royal Navy sub near Guadalcanal intercepted Japanese transport in Petisch turn, and sunk it. It was weaken 2 points strong SNLF division. Hooray! Australia deployed Army unit at Brisbane, and bought artillery unit.
Remarks: All quiet. I saw some vessels moving back to Japan, so maybe he has got Naval Weapons 2, and going to re-arm them. That would provide window of opportunity to retake Fiji and New Hebrides. I need to think about it.
Science and Diplomacy: USSR invested in AA defense. USA invested in industrial tech.

Turn 35, November 22 1942
US&Pacific: 1st Marines are just one turn away from Saipan. They prey they won’t got spotted while defenseless in the amphibious transport. Holland Sub continues its raid after raiding 15MPPs Japan-Thailand, it moved on China-Japan route. I spotted Heavy Cruiser in Naha. I am almost sure he is upgrading IJN for Naval Weapons 2. That would explain his passiveness in China and Burma. I bombard Fiji from two Battleships. Marines in Samoa were loaded, and now 2 Amphibious transports are getting ready to get Fiji. But this time upgraded US NAVY will accompany them. Almost all Navy is upgraded now to 1/1/1 standard. Additional 3 marines divisions are heading in transports to Australia via southern convoy route. I transferred Maritime Bomber from California to Australia. My airship in Australia delivered some valuable intel about Japanese forces in New Guinea. China: I observed activity of Japanese Armies in the North China Front. Since I had good situation with MPPs right now there, I’ve decided not to wait for their attack, and assault Emperor’s forces. I manged to destroy Cavalry unit with no losses. Then it was a hard take to attack an army on their positions, but I think it was better to interrupt this obvious preparations for offensive. I took more casualties than him though. India/Burma: Literally almost nothing happened. Japanese Army attacked on British Light tank and caused 1 point damage. Since there are no major Japanese Air forces in the area, I moved Flying Tigers and Chinese tactical Bomber closer to Kunming. They might be needed in Southern China front.
Other theaters: Next turns Australia will buy Special Forces, and Invest in Amphibious Warfare tech, and production tech. Afterwards I will decrease US aid for them, they would be basically ready to operate as separate force.
Remarks: I got bold idea...I just got Chindits and I moved them to Madras. Late winter I will get additional 2 commando units. Altogether 3. If I invest in Amphibious tech for UK, they might go all three and try to get Rangoon from Sea. You can actually attack the city itself from the sea, from the east. I shall consider it.
Science and Diplomacy: China invested in Infantry Weapons 2. Australia and UK invested in Industrial tech. USA invested in Advanced subs 2.

Re: Day of Infamy AAR Allies, full turn-by-turn
Turn 37 December 12 1942
US&Pacific: US NAVY concentrated east to Fiji Islands. Next turn two marine divisions will crush Japanese Garrison, which was bombarded again by the Battleships. Presence on a lone Japanese submarine does not put fear in hearts of American sailors, because they are fully ware of their numeric might. If it won’t run away it will be sunk. Remember 1st Marines on their „harassment” landing mission to Saipan? Well, when they approached their target it turned out it is garrisoned. I didn’t want to run away, because I feel it would be just chased quickly and sunk, so I went further south, to Guam...and guess what? It was empty! Ha! In four face Hirohito! 1st Marines is super lucky division. I hope they will make Petisch drawing some forces from China to garrison strategic points, because he now clearly see, I am not afraid making bold moves.
China: CRISIS! Japanese started Christmas offensive. Two Nationalists Armies were destroyed on the South front. One Nationalist Army was destroyed in the North Front in Louyang. Now Japanese have two artillery units one in the north, and one in the south. Maybe my attack in the North wasn’t a smart move. I regrouped, reinforced what I could and immediately (re)bought an Army. I will observe the situation with utmost tension! Rapid success of Japanese Army was partly tied to a fact that they have Infantry weapons 2 now, while Chinese only got level 1 and started researching level 2.
India/Burma: Japanese attacked Light Tank and damaged it with -4. I reinforced it, and a core came from the rear, it will swap the tank next turn. East to Mandalay, British core went check on Japanese tank, just to spot long column of Jap tanks spreading on roads all the way to Chiang Mai. I don’t get it. But what worries me, is that this tank has 6 supply...so HQ must be somewhere close. Other theaters: Jap Bombers from San Cristobal disrupted Australian supply. Fine. I can live with that for now.
Remarks: Soon I will need to evaluate my 1942 strategy, and think about my next steps in 1943.
