How to change or delete national moral objectives?

Post by Easter80 »

How can I change or delete national moral objectives?

Maybe I've overseen it in the manual.

I only found something about editing scripts for the national moral, but this will be definitely too difficult for me.

The reason for that is, that I played in the main scenario
"Day of Infamy" as Japan and concentrated on China, the British Empire and after both were conquered, the USSR, too, by declaring war on them. After all three were defeated in 1948 and reorganise the units back to the shores of China, I started invading the Philippines in 1949.

After about 150 rounds the Japanese moral fell down to 0 % and it capitulated.

For preventing the United States dropping an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, which decreases the Japanese moral drastically, I withdrew from this city and dug in with all Japanese home guard units and two more, holding Honshu and Sapporo by building fortifications with the three available engineer units from the start of the game.

I deactivated the victory conditions in the scripts before.

Thank you for your answer in advance.

Kind regards.

That sounds like quite a strange alt-history game you are playing!

If you turn off the victory conditions, then I suppose the game will continue indefinitely until you choose to end it. I am surprised that Japanese NM hit zero, but it sounds like their cumulative unit losses over time plus the impact of the atomic bombs, outweighed the NM gains to Japan of conquering China, India and the USSR in the absence of a fixed end point when the game engine would determine a Japanese victory.

To answer your specific question, to change or delete national morale objective, you have to go into the Editor, across down to Events and then look at the scripts under National Morale. Find the specific scripts for the objectives you want to change and either delete them or modify the NM gains/losses for taking that objective. Then save the edited file with a new name and it will become a mod. (It will be saved in the little blue folder on the top right of your screen when you re-open the Editor). There is no in-game method of changing NM objectives without modifying the scripts.

Good luck!

In game, at least when playing the AI, you can turn scripts off if desired by going to Options -> Advanced -> Scripts

Thank you both for your answers. I'll try this out by deleting the national moral objectives, which I want to.

I had already clicked deactivating the scripts, which will lower the Japanese moral, but it didn't avoid decreasing it.

Indeed I also deactivated the victory conditions and extended the final date to 04/06/1980 in my mod.

Kind regards.
