Guys I'm having a problem, my population is only 2.3billion... is that normal? AI has the usual 12billion and I struggle in the economy with so low pop

What? My problem is when I start a game my main planet starts with 2,3Billion population instead of the usually 12-13Billion, the AI starts with 13Billion. So I'm asking it is happening because of Bacon mod or what?

Edit: It was problem of an option set in Pre-warp xD srry

I suppose this is the place to ask, but I was wondering how I could go about modifying the exe? I want to make the nationalized private industry government flag into something that can be usable. I find the mechanic really interesting. And perhaps tack in onto something like hivemind as it would make more sense that way. It seem to me that to do this I would have to decompile the exe and make my changes there, but I am not sure how to go about that. Which is why I am asking here as it looks like that's what bacon did with his mod. Its a shame that all the different governments are nothing more then bonuses and negatives just tacked on and don't have strong impacts on play style. I wish they did more then just moderately effect how other races/governments react to each other.

Hello Roger,

nice that you keep this mod active.

Now I downloaded the new version because I have a problem that must have something to do with your gravity well settings.

I have a constructor that is going to fly outside the gravity well, but the planet is easier to reach when he would fly directly to it.
It is easy to see, because the way to the outside of the well is much longer than the direct line from the ship to the planet.

What could have happened? Do you need my savegame?

Grav well pathing is an issue with ships. It's why I can't play with them on.

2nd thing I have no idea.

If you run the game now then you don't. You need 1.81r bacon if you run windows 10 2004 version or later.

That detailed mission info, accessed with alt-enter, is for my debugging purposes. It was not an officially released key shortcut. You must have found it by using alt-enter instead of ctrl-enter. It shoes each individual step of a mission along with the coordinates if any. The -2e+09 are default location (X,Y) for mission steps that don't have an (X,Y) location associated with them, such as load and refuel.

Since this was an internal debugging thing it will probably work on enemy ships to. If so, you can consider it a cheat feature.

and it is really good to know, right now, I do not see this as a cheat.
anyway, its very useful because double clicking on a ship and then going to the cargo hold is kind of a lot clicking. also pressing F11 and then going again to "selected ship" is also not very user friendly.

it would come in handy, if pressing "esc" would close any window instead of popping on/off the option window.. i will never get used to it..

anyway...
i changed a bit the hyperdrive threshhold but for my construction ships, the gravity well is huuuuge.... and maybe the calculation of when to go out of the gravity well to jump then to an object is miscalculated by not regardign the mass of the ship correct?
if i find out why, I will let you know. it would be so great if this works, I never had the problem before..

P.S.:
I set the threshold to: HyperJumpThreshhold=15000
this way they do not fly out to jump closer.

Yeah, that's ctrl-enter. The detailed steps you showed is ALT-Enter, which I used for trying to figure out why shome ships were doing weird things.

Hi, it seems the link to the alternative bacon exe (for the 2004 windows version) doesn't work anymore.
Unfortunately my bacon mod doesn't either after my windows updated..

Any help would be appreciated!
