Is it possible to somehow work around the fixed resolution to make the window resizeable?

Do you have the same version of windows xp?
I mean 32 bit vs 64 bit.
I remember some issue related to this when i tried to run one editor
released in the past.

What is the exact error message?
Please disable your Antivirus for a short time and try starting the program - AV software may interfere.
Tried now to disable AV (AvastFree) but sadly not working.

Image

Sonds more or less like this: Cannot correctly initialize application
Sounds like the program still depends on some kind of external library like older dotnet or C++.
@AlterEgo - do you have dotnet installed in your XP VM? Any other C++ library than 2010/2013?

I have dotnet 4.0 installed and the small 4.0.3 dotnet update.
All c++ libs 2008/2010/2012/2013
and Service Pack 3 for XP.
That's all on my VM.

AFAIR Avast installs 2008, missing on cohimbra's system could be c++2012 and dotnet 4.0

Ok, installed all in this list (except 4.0.3 dotnet upgrade) and it work!

Thanks to Denniss for pointed me in the right direction, known the right answer is the key to solve issues. After the last partition format I forgot to reinstall Service Pack 3 and Dotnet 4.0; installing them solved my issue.

A little suggestion for AlterEgo: maybe you can make first post of this thread updated after new releases, so one can go to the firt post and dowload the last version without search around the thread.

Thanks again to all! [&o]

No, not at this time, but I have a dream to get rid of the main window
and write/use a new GUI for the game in the distant future.

Cohimbra, I'm glad that it's now working for you! [:)]

I can't update the first post of this thread because it's created by Toffi and I
have no access to this account anymore.

But I start a new thread as soon as my project is more stable and out of the alpha state.

Currently I'm working on improving/bug fixing the game and want to make the AI more challenging.
I have just fixed a bug where the roundels were not displayed on the map.

Cohimbra if you want me to I can add you into the roster of that unit in the FW database mod? You can PM me if you want your full name and desired rank. I'm sitting with the final check on v1.14 right now before uploading it.

A little feedback after playing a couple of turns vs AI as Axis in '43 Full Campaign with AlterEgo .exe launcher (I'm under vino tinto effect, so please be clement [;)])

- allied bomber return to the objective bug seems to be solved, obviously need more test, a couple of turns can't be enough;
- axis crazy auto-interception (like a/c of Luftflotte 2 intercept raid over Ruhr) seems to be solved (I see the crazy line interception but after a second line disappear and all are ok);
- with Message Level 3 the new detailed messages for me are bit overwhelming, I suggest you to move all the new message to Level 4 and leave Level 3 as default (more in detail there's a thing that you must change anyway: when an a/c crashed while landing and pilot dying, the dying message are two, the default message and yours);
- I see a lot of allied bomber crashing after combat, more and more that I can remember...maybe some of you can take a look at this and add more detailed feedback;
- another thing you must take under observation is the return leg escort for allies: if you've played some turns into Axis '43 Full Campaign you know that an early raid over Hannover (or place like this) have entry escorts and one (or more) exit escorts (to prevent ZG ambush fortress in the last part of return leg)...well, with the new .exe I see a pair of raid without the exit escorts, and for what I can remember I never see things like this, but maybe I'm wrong. I think you expert guys need to dedicate some attention to this aspect of the game.

Im' totally crazed or you noticed same things?

I think it's all for now, apologize about my funny italo-english. [:D]

Ah, last thing and important too! If you played Axis Campaign you know that allied AI magically see next turn without recon where you placed Luftflotte 3 air groups last turn. I can't explain better, but if you played EDtBR you surely know what I'm talking about; it would be nice if Axis player are able to combat in France without this handicap (handicap that bring all Axis player to leave France theatre early in game). That's really all now!

Cohimbra you're in as requested.

Working on 1.15 now and it's about fixing screwed up locations (at least some of them!). It's fun messing around with the DB, when you see the results. Only americans could mess up names and locations the way they are in this game. [:D]

PS. Perhaps I should add that little town of 'F-ing' in Austria? So that the boys from the 15th know where to bail out when they have to. DS.

No, I made no changes to scenarios. I replaced a buggy oil distribution function in the game.
Now the amount of OIL and FUEL at any location depends on it's damage and it's capacity
(1 capacity is equivalent to ~2000 tons of OIL/FUEL)

A location with 50% damage can hold only 50% of it's OIL/FUEL storage, which was not considered in the original game.

If the industry runs out of fuel/oil in the endgame... I don't know. Need some test runs!

Cohimbra, thank you for the feedback!!

My "Bomber Return to Target"-bugfix was not working as intended!
Allied bombers got too high losses although I don't know why this was related to my bugfix.
In v0.072 I changed my bugfix a little bit. I hope it works better now. I'll test it...

Regarding all other comments; I'll check.. Haven't much time yet!

Thanks!!

Ok, this I need to try! I'll help you chase down bugs in the oil distribution. For now I can help with playtesting, I guess primarily the '44 scenario.

Just added v0.073 to my folder
Changed additional screen messages (LandingPhase, FighterAttack, BomberAttack etc..) to MsgLvl 4.
Fixed my "BomberReturnsToTarget" bugfix [:D], so please let me know, if it still occurs!
Defender Production info (Engines, parts, aircraft and AA) added to message listview.
That's all for the moment! [:)]
