Yea, I would not want it to "break" an action (like active scan, or a DCS repair) because that could lead to more time lost. As for repair bays... I havn't seen one of those (outside of the tutorial) yet, or the mission ended before I had the time to try to use it. But once again, I really would not want a scanner link break to interrupt repairs.

However, if I'm just "waiting on ...." (recycle, enemy's, heat, move) then all I "loose" is having to reestablish my "waiting on ...." state (approx 1~3 keystrokes).

Where if I have to wait for my recycle to finish and THEN request for the link to be reestablished and wait for that I feel like I lost time, because both of those actions could have been executing at the same time (the recycle and the reestablish of the link).

I havn't used scanner links much yet. Seems that last time I tried the link was lost just as I was about to fire. And in that case I decided to fire without the link, as opposed to waiting for hte link to reestablish. It hadn't really occured to me to just use scanner links to increase the visible terrain. I guess I should use them more (even when I don't need them) as it would help generate OXP for my jocks.

So my opinions are not really coming from a position of experience, just what seems logical to me.

Good points made about the repair bays, didn't think of those situations. Going down the list of wait options, here's my opinion:

Wait on call: do not break. This is a 'Don't call me, I'll call you' command.
Wait on time: do not break. This covers the repair bays.
Wait on units: break.
Wait on heat: break.
Wait on recycle: break.
Wait on move: break.

I'll admit that I wouldn't always attempt to re-establish the link immediately in all these situations. Sometimes it would be more important to fire sooner, without the link, than later with it. But occasionally one would be able to re-establish the link before the wait expires, thus regaining the benefits.

Also note that this should only break an attack menu 'Wait' command, not a move 'Wait'. May seem like an obvious point, but let's say it just to be clear.

My 2¢ worth.

Too late, too late. Just uploaded the final v1.1.0 to Matrixgames yesterday.

MaHaROGa, I did say break *wait* states. Not the actions themselves, obviously. That was what was being discussed.

EDIT:
Healing can only be accomplished if at least one mode is on wait, and has a better chance if both modes are on wait.
With "repair" bays I meant armor/ammo/health bays, where you have to have both modes on wait to perform the task required.

Thorgrim, I just wanted to clearify which types of "waiting" I was talking about. I wasn't sure if "waiting for a scan" was considered a "wait" in the same way that "wait on recycle" is. Your note brought that distincttion to my mind.

I really am not familiar with how the armor/ammo/health bays work, because as I mentioned I havn't seen any of those in the campaign missions (or didn't use them). Isn't there a "wait on repair" option? I had assumed that it was for repair bays, since the DCS repair has it's own delay.

BTW... Woot! on hearing that 1.1.0 is on the way. I've been a little shy of wanting to use Plasma Guns because of the heat generated when it is destroyed, and suffering from that after the whole section has been destroyed would be even worse. I'm also looking forward to the maintenance cost changes related to unused jocks/titans. I'm not quite sure what the final decision on that change was, but I've got a couple of extra titans in my squad so I'm hoping that it will help some on my costs.

A wait state is a wait state, regardless of what you're waiting for ;)

There are plenty of bays in the campaigns.
The wait on repair button doesn't have to do with repair bays (only), but with the DCS - for the move mode obviously.

Notice that destroyed PGs in non-destroyed locations will still cause heat. Also, the maintenance cost reduction (50%) is for titans only, not jocks.
