CW shifts units around in Sicily, Malaya, India and UK.

US shifts some units around in UK.

Land combats are declared in Poland and China.

The USSR sends and IL-4 on extended range and throws in a fighter escort.

The Germans have a range of aircraft they could add if they wish?

The Germans bring in their 5-strength fighter to escort the flying phallus. When one is on a sticky wicket, one needs a big knob to come in and sort it out.

Thank-you

USSR rolled a 13 for 'no effect'. USSR aborts the combat. The bomber flies to Brest-Litovsk.

8 is added to the defence. Where do you want the German aircraft to land?

In Poland, the odds change from a respectable 4:1 to 2:1. The Soviets choose Blitz to gain +2.

Could have been worse. I chose the worst Axis INF to destroy.

The Soviets rebase 3 fighters forwards.

CW rebases Boomerang from Port Moresby to Sorong and Blenheim to Minado.

US rebases C-47 from Sardinia to UK. B-17 from Faeroes to UK. B-17 from Greenland to Faeroes. P-40 from Guam to SW of Manilla. B-24 from Boston to Greenland. P-40 from Pearl to near Midway. NAV from Espirito Santo to near Rabaul.

No reorgs.

Weather goes rather pants.

May/Jun 1943
Impulse: 7 (Axis)

Declarations of War and Alignments: None

Japan: Land
Germany: Land
Italy: Land

Naval Air: None

Strategic Bombing: None
Ground Strike: None

Rail Movement: None
Land Movement:
Japan

The Japanese continue to retreat where they can.

Germany

The Germans move into Bessarabia

Debark
Japan

Yamamoto off loads in Manchuria

Land Combat:
Germany

One attack announced at 5:1 with no aircraft allowed to fly

Rundstedt offers HQ Support

Okay I'm going to call it a day there. I tried to keep the game going as long as possible as its not fair to the Allied player to not get their day in the sun. But the dice remain impossible for the Germans to make it even remotely fun. Average less than 4 after three throws on the Eastern Front.

HQ fails (7), Fractionals (844) fail and the land throw is a 3.

Well played AllenK - never put a foot wrong and a deserved winner!

I'm up for a re-match if you wish [:)]

Thanks Warspite1 for continuing as long as you did [&o].

Certainly up for a rematch. Want to swap sides so you can command your namesake? Any changes to the optionals? I would suggest having a go with the 2d10 land combat.

A “Sitzkrieg” can be a winning strategy for Germany. Axis losses have been light and their oil bank is now in-exhaustable. The Russians have not taken losses, either, but they also haven’t had 2 years of +0.5 Production Multiple and now never will.

The attack in Bessarabia was a net BP gain for USSR however. It also illustrates that Germany should force the USSR to attack in East Prussia for the Production Multiple gain and to keep the Soviet front stretched more. If they advance much in central Poland then East Prussia steadily becomes a threat to the flank of that advance.

By 1943, the game becomes a struggle of breaking river lines vs. well stocked armored counterattacks and everything with a red circled factor becomes key.

Japan and Italy seem beatable but I am not so sure about Germany - and taking out the first 2 Axis countries subtracts from the effort vs. Germany. I think the USA came in late in this game?
