Thanks.

I won't go that deep into russian Stuff for now, just want to get a general overview first.

Nafziger sadly excluded naval Air in the first line of the document (I am loking for Navy Airplanes, didn't mention it, sry :D )

Niehorster good as always.
The green ones are in the game, the Devs decided to skip some AOGs and put all in one AOG which seems fine, but the orange section are quite some planes I can not find at all.
Now the question is where all those orange marked planes were and/or in game are?!
I guess some may be Sea-Rescue planes or weather planes or some other specialty. But there are plenty of Recon/Sea Recon and Fighters as well "missing". :?

Any further ideas?

I'm actually working from the Niehorster pages to get more naval aviation units into GC41 with focus on MBR-2 units. Also some additional naval AA

Some details for naval aviation in the link below, most of the data is from the cold war, but still may be useful.

As the Axis, what dou you do with the plethora of anti air SUs that you have at your disposal?

I have already allocated
- 1 mixed flak bt. to every corps
- 1 SP mot Flak bt. to most of my panzers and mot divs.

And I still have this.

Image

Whats the best way to utilize them? It seems to be such a waste to leave this many SUs just sitting at the OKH.

Thanks,

Some things (you may already know).
You can attach up to 3 SUs directly to a Division.
AA also takes part in Ground Combat.
Flak contributes when in TBs to almost all parts of the TB.
....and the "LW" AA can only be assigned to HQs.

My mot inf and pz divisions already have 3 SUs of various kind directly attached to them. Do you suggest that I start sticking these units to infantry divisions too?

Image

Even if I attach these to inf divs, that still leave me at around 40 AA SUs that can only be attached to corps. And each of my corps already have a mixed flak bt. in them. Putting more SUs in a HQ decreases the chance of SU commitment and I primarily would like my artirelly to take part in the action.

So, if you play with locked TB (as I do), what on earth do you do with that 40 AA units. :?

Some (!) "LW"-AA unites in Axis Reserve can be moved to other TBs (even if "NO enhanced TB"). The other "LW"-units should stay with OKH, because: (i) Soviet air force is not a challenge at that state and (ii) the use trucks and supply - and you will need both!
Cheers!

I would move most of the LW AA to TBs.

In general any SUs that are not required should be kept off the map or in a HQ sitting on a NSS to save your logistics.

The downside to this is that you lose 50% CPP when you manually re assign these units.
Molotov : This we did not deserve.

Foch : This is not peace. This is a 20 year armistice.

When playing against AI, is it better to let them have locked or unlocked support units?

NA divisions disappear contradicting transfer info

Post by Metalist »

Hi folks,

In my StB game with latest official -not beta- patch, North Africa forces surrender on turn 27. As you can see in the screenshot below, two panzer divisions were scheduled to transfer to Italy and WE, but they too appear on the list of destroyed units. If I could postpone the surrender one more turn, does this mean these divisions could survive and move to theaters mentioned?

If TBs aren't locked, get them out well before surrender date. If they are locked, then yes delaying the surrender until after they've transferred would have saved them.

Should displaced HQ's be able to provide SU's to units? In this example the 28th Rifle Corps provides three artillery SU's to the 42nd Rifle Div in the defense of BL (Brest Litovsk)

A second displacement of the 28th Rifle Corp keeps this from happening.

Other than the 5 hex rule, I don't know any reason why a displacement would prevent the support units from joining in a battle.

Mmm. I thought it was 5 hexes and did not move? Not a big deal by any means from my perspective.

On defence I don't think there is a reference to moving, so its allowed as far as I know.

Ah, here is the errata.

Errata 01.00,12 (clarification): For a support unit to be committed to battle, the
HQ that the support unit is attached to must be within 30 motorized movement
points of the attacking unit being supported.

Errata: Undocumented rules
For a deliberate attack there are some important modifiers. If the attacker (in
the current phase) or the defender (in the previous phase) has moved the
relevant HQ there is a -1 modifier to the chance of a Support Unit being
committed. If the attacker has not moved their HQ in the current turn, then
there is a +3 bonus to the chance of a Support Unit commitment.

As a reminder, the relevant leadership value for these checks is their initiative
score.

Thanks, Veterin. TBs are not locked, but these units were locked in the theater so I did not have a choice.
