Well, spelling doesn't mean anything... The "ö" is also German letter and Björn is a popular North German name, too. But German accents sound differently, and I know some Dutchies who really speak like that, that's why my initial thought was that they're dutch/flamish. Martin and Björn are very popular swedish names indeed, tho, so you might be right, as there is a swedish tone in there, now that i think about it, indeed. [:)]ORIGINAL: Greup
As a side-node:
They authors are definitely swedes:
1. They couldn't pronounce either German, nor French names correctly nor speak English without a typical Swedish accent.
2. It said "Martin & Björn Productions" and "Björn" is spelled with a Swedish "ö"....

RE: Progress
Panther Paul says he's almost done with the Estab Image Duplication bug - it's required a complete rewrite of the code that manages the estab images. Alas I discovered a bug in the MapMaker that prevents the selection of areas when operating under Vista - works fine under XP. It's taken me four days to track it down to what looks like a piece of Microsoft code. I have requested assistance on MSDN ( Microsoft Dev Network ). But they seem to have lost my request. Now I have requested support on finding my request. The joys of software development.[8|]
In the meantime I am debugging a swag of asserts from the autotesting.

Hi all,
I realise it's been a while since I last posted here. But that is only because we've been flat out working to get BFTB released. We have made a ton of bug fixes, minor mods, tweaks to things like fatigue and resupply stock levels to accomodate the appalling weather that dominated this battle. I've rewritten the planning code for Moves to handle the automated construction of bridges. This broke heaps of things but also highlighted a number of opportunities for enhancing things.
We still have a few things to address:

We still have a few things to address:
- MapMaker - ensure area selection works under Vista
- UI - Estab Views - Display vehicle armament estabs
- EstabEditor ( in-house dev tool ) - fix compiler
- AI - HQ basing
- Networking - fix assert on handshake
- Documentation - Finish and review manual
- Tutorial Movies - create

You people are phenomenal. I'm still finding stuff in COTA that makes me go "damn, that's cool!," and the level of attention to detail and what seem to be pretty sound software engineering principles you apply to your development is damn impressive, particularly in an industry where many games come to fruitiion more by virtue of luck than by design it seems.

We still have a few things to address:I hope to finish off all the AI stuff next week and one of the first things I'll do after that is a What's New movie. This will be my on the job learning exercise with Camtasia, so it may be a little rough around the edges. I have already worked up the storyboard, so it shouldn't take that long. I'll post it up here when it's available. [:)]

Dave, the Manual is ready for review, so you can knock that one off your list.

Will it be before AE is what I'm wondering?

War in the Pacific, Admirals Edition.
I'm betting on BftB to be released first.

RE: Progress
Does it matter? Do it right, take the time to check it, it is far better to catch bugs before release than after.
Referring to the "competition" or to rigid release schedules is often the cause for really shocking releases.

And neither are we. [:)] About the best I can do for this Friday is to put out a new build for the beta testers. We'll dedicate it to you. How's that?

Ok, for some reason I thought you were much closer than that. Fathers Day? [:D]

Lee,
Ah, the next build. That's the milestone which marks my return. I've only read the manual and just monkeyed around with stuff. But when the next build arrives it is time for a fight. I need to generate some AAR class material. And you never know if a tip or two will slip in ... since all my tips are pulled directly from real games. Bring it on!
