Yes, it was first used on 10/11, which I believe beats Gran Torino, that is, if the previews didn't use that phrase.

They did, actually. Not sure when they began airing. I first saw one later than that.

I can't say. All that I can say , is when I first used the expression , I had not heard of the movie , previews or trailers. But I do recall "geezers" of my childhood yelling it just before they fired shotguns loaded with rocksalt. That was the only place that I had ever heard it before. Why , is it copyrighted or something? [&:]

We had a farmer near where I grew up that had a pond full of frogs and tadpoles. This place was fascinating to us, but he terrorized us by coming after us on his tractor with a shotgun loaded with rock salt. I consider it my first contact with mechanized infantry. One time I came home shirtless and had to explain to my mother that it was still attached to the barbwire fence belonging to the psycho farmer. After his death the land was donated by his family to the city and is now a park named after him where children play every day.

My neighborhood as a kid had cigar smoking one who called all boys by girls names and vice versa, no shotgun but a starters pistol that he would fire in the air. [:D]

No. We did see a lot of that where I grew up.

My father-in-law (who just passed on at 83) used to tell me that when he was a child, there was a crazy old civil war vet who used to pop at the kids with a musket (either rock salt, or just the wad) when they cut across his farm. I guess somethings never change.

I've talked to a lot of people in Northern Florida (Jacksonville to St. Augustine heading inland--real cracker country) who have said they recall some characters like that. [:)]
