But I've discovered it has something to do with the default Distant Worlds Universe save game folder created in the Windows Documents folder. I've tried deleting it for the game to create a new folder, and the music sounds ok.
So if you delete that folder then there is no problem with music every time?
Well, yes, sort of. If I delete it altogether and have the game create an entirely new Distant Worlds Universe folder in Documents, the first time I launch the game menu the music is ok. Usually the second, third, fourth time the game starts up, the music "may" be ok. But the fifth time, for example, then the music sounds sluggish and stutters. But this "may" happen earlier, maybe the fourth or third time the game starts up, like I said, it's not consistent. Really strange.
In other words, with an entirely newly created Distant Worlds Universe in Documents, the first time the games starts up the music is fine. But any other instance beyond the first time the game starts up, eventually the music issue comes up, sooner or later. The only other factor I can think of that might help you is creating an .exe shortcut. And alernate starting the game up with .exe or the shortcut. Maybe that has an odd influence?
Just to be clear, I have never, ever encountered this music problem with any of the builds of the Expansion Mod v. 1.
