Alexi and I went at it again, my place on heavies in the Savannah. The Grizzly that I drew sure lived up to its name. After lumbering forward across an open plain to a forest, and being given a yellow bib by Alexi's Bombardier along the way (read: yellow RT, LT, CT. This thing has NO #@$^%$#@&^%! FLARES) I finally was able to start throwing some AC20s into her, first going for her legs, and then her torsos. Eventually I worked my way to one hex beside her through the forest. After knocking her down a few more times, one time when she tried jumping out, she ran into my hex, only to have me hop over her, miss my DfA, still land, and saw her down. Soon she got up and knocked me down, making me spatter sauce all over myself, staining me red in the LT, RT and LA. Then, as any self-respecting Grizzly would, I bonked her over the head with a saw, knocked her out, proceded to take out her torsos and LoT.

Poor Alexi has no luck tonight. I was riding Gabriel vs her Marksman, knocked the widgets out of her jock twice with my NB, then called shots to her CT, knocking out first her CBT (and her Life Support with it) and then her CT.
Needless to say, without her LS her jock was jello before the end of the fight.
She did manage to hit me quite a few times though.

Oh, and you know the worst thing? I'm so SMUG!!

Well, I had lots and lots of luck, but it was all bad.

First the bump on the head, then....

I met Prince Corrin the second time in a Pheonix, he was driving a Medusa.

We spent a *lot* of time walking around the arena, and a very short time fighting. He came at me from over a mountain, while I was hiding in a copse of trees. I fired all three NM14s into him to get his attention, but he created a smoke screen that block the LoS. So I waited and waited, and when the smoke screen disolved, he was right in front of me. I fired again, this time cycling my missiles while he ran into my hex. After that he shot me with a meson that entered the CT and caused the fully loaded rack of NM14s to explode; it blew out the CT and the CBT.

I don't think either of us even had a yellow spot on us before it happened.

Now *that* is the power of Mesons, mixed with bad luck, they can ruin your whole day

Mesons are a gamble. But that's why they are so much fun.

Speaking of gambling, I went against Alexi one more time tonight. I was in a Battle Master (soon deleted after the battle along with the Grizzly, the BM has no heat reg and an oversized shield) while Alexi drew a Flush (homemade, misnamed, should have been called Straight =P AC7, PL, LL, GC, PG figure it out for yourself). We both got settled nicely in some woods and started sniping, with her doing more damage to me. Then she lit my hex on fire. I started heating up nicely because of the fire, the shield bug and movement, so I dove out, tried a smokescreen to no avail, took a few more hits before I was able to make it behind a mountain to break LoS and then into a lake to cool down. Neither of us really moved for a bit, so then I snuck over behind some mountains where I could see her woods, but we couldn't see each other, and set her place on fire with my SLs. I then jumped up after seeing her move out of the burning woodlands, did an alpha-strike, got a GC and PG shot in return and landed. So far no good. She'd out damaged me every time. We broke LoS again and I went back into the lake to cool. I couldn't move with my shield on without generating heat. Anyway, Alexi went around the mountains the long way and appeared just as I started climing the mountains. I broke LoS before either of us could get a lock. When I climbed the next step, we saw each other again and traded shots. I knocked her down with a GC to her leg and then dinged her in the head with an AC12. From there on, she tried running for some woods while I jumped up and down like a Mexican jumping bean shooting her legs up nicely with my cannons causing her to fall as if she had drunk too much tequila. Finally her RT gave out and her RL came off soon after.

You forgot to say that it did a whopping !!60!! damage. That one shot singlehandedly destroyed her CT, and CBT, and put her LoT into the red.

I was yellow in a couple places. If that makes you feel better.
Anybody up for Alexi jello?

Dueled 2 games with Bernd on Friday night. Both were nice friendly ones my Blue DragonMB took 4 CLGs to the head from his BansheeB (owie). In the second game my Goon killed his KodiakB pilot.

Three duels to post so far this Saturday.

In 1st PC playing both meds destroyed Lyhrus and myself in sidewinders.

In 2nd my Black Death beat Michaels PrometheusB.

In 3rd my Grim Reaper beat Michaels Avatar (love NBs and HMs against shieldless titans). Got to end his first century with a whimper (grin).

Dueled Hetzer in mediums on a classic map. Combat was striaght forward, we saw each other and opened fire.

He reported that I damaged his engine with my first hit, and for him it was downhill from there.

Anywho, called shots to his RL 'til it came off, then called shots to his head; but it was a punch to the CT that ended it. I Had a red LT and RL at the end, so he did some damage...

Thanks for the game, Hetzer!

THM is learning far too quickly. Something will have to be done (dark ominous tone of voice).

Played 2 vs Lyhrrus on sat night.

1st one at his house. Had a Pepper Spray vs a Four Seasons (yeesh). He made it all the way into my hex before sucumbing to my NRMs.

2nd game was my Thug against his Sodom. He spent about 1/2 of the game floating face down in a river so I guess my Thug did it's job He finally ejected due to the fact that his pilot was becoming pudding

Poor Alexi just can't seem to beat me. I had a Sidewinder vs her Gambler. Those mesons ripped my systemd right to hell. With my heat reg badly damaged, my engine lightly damaged and two weapons turning to useless poles while my heat skyrocketed, I moved behind a hill and sat, praying for my heat to go down. All my ammo went up. Now for most people that would be the end of the fight, but as some may tell you I rarely give up unless pressed for time.
So I waited for her, and when she got to me I punched and kicked for all I was worth (prolly about $2 on the open market) and managed, somehow, to disable her LoT and RT, thus securing victory. I was not looking too ood at the end, but I won. I felt really bad about it to.

Well, finally some good news for me tonight.

2 more Battles, won both by a hair.

First one was against Alexi at my place. I got a Hole Puncher (custom, twin GCs and twin GM3s) while she had a Pariah. It was GM and flare city. The battle ended when I had 3 seconds left on my last flare, when she jumped up and I got a lucky critical to her RT, blowing up an entire GM6 rack. Amazingly, she passed 2 skill checks and remained in the air, only to be knocked out of the sky by a couple more GM3s which took off her leg as well.

Second battle has to be the best battle I've had yet. I took on both Hetzer and Alexi, while I got an AI partner 2 levels up (which didn't help that much it seemed). We drew heavies in Iceland. Of course my AI would happen to be on a refit Fire Giant (note to developers, when a titan has NMs, it seems to like to stand in one place and fire, not moving at all). Alexi and I both drew refit Riflemen while Hetzer (the lucky old bastard) drew my homemade Gremlin (twin LRM6s, twin TBs). Both me and the AI saw Alexi right away, but she had a direct LoS with my AI while I we had an indirect. This allowed her to start sniping away at leisure on my poor AI. The AI and I both headed for some forests, Alexi and I taking potshots. Finally Alexi went out of view so I settled down in some nice woods I found, only to have Hetzer soon surface. I shot him a couple times before he promptly jumped up and set my hex on fire. Alexi then appeared in woods opposite me, and the two of them started abusing my poor AI. Even when I threw smokescreens up to protect my AI, they quickly dismantled it before my AI could even get 5 shots off from each rack. A nice shot from Alexi blew up a NM rack in my AI, taking out its RT. It still stood... for a little bit until twin TBs soon took out its LA. Not giving up for once, the AI stood, and started launching a few more NMs at Hetzer. All this time I was popping up and down inside my burning abode, sniping at Hetzer, forcing him to make snow angels. Eventually, the AI lost its CT and fell down. Luckily, it still had a connected arm and torso, allowing a few more racks of NMs to go out. By this time, Hetzer's RL was severly messed from my twin GCs that he could only crouch and remain there. By crouching myself, I was able to keep out of direct LoS from the two of them. Hetzer, having nothing better to do, systematically dismantled the poor Fire Giant, taking off its legs, while complaining that it was still alive. (Hetzer, I bet you were one of those kids who would catch bugs, pull their wings off and then let them go again) Soon he shot out the LT, along with the life support, leaving the jock permanently trapped inside. Hetzer started going barmy over the fact that it was still alive, and only after another TB to the disabled LT (is this a bug? should a jock suffer damage after life support is gone, but the shot hits a disabled part? I know it happens if LS is gone, but in this case, the LT was gone too!) and shocked the poor guy to death. All this while, my fire had burnt out and Alexi and I had reduced each others woods with our SRM8s. Finally I painted her CT red, before calling shots into it, blowing out her engine. I then stood up, and blew Hetzer's engine out with some missiles before he could shoot me.

The poor ole AI just stood there out in the open and let us pick it to pieces...

Now if only Lhyrrus would have done that....

The first game and a first win for me!

Bernd was kind enough to challenge me into a fight. He hosted the game. Setting was polar, medium titans w/ace pilots. He drew a Hell Cat, I got a Musketeer.

My starting position was by all means perfect - having a long range titan starting right next to a forested big hill meant trouble for Bernd's effectively short-range titan. Single LRM6 was all that he had against my quad AC's.

I painted Bernd red in CT, Head and both torsos, but he got into a forested hex and my chances to hit dropped drastically. I hid from his LRM fire, and suddenly neither of us could break move anymore. He conceded, letting me collect the victory. Thanks, Bernd! We'll meet again.

If you let the game run about 1000 game seconds, it will break move for you then. This has been reduced to 500 in hotseat but network games seem to be at the old standard.

Got to start Sunday off with a whimper (mikeys)

1st game was my Gunsel vs his WidowMaker. Most of game was spent waiting for him to get up so that I could take his head

2nd game at his haus gave me the single worst designed assult that I have ever driven name of Bait. This turkey had 1PB,1TB,1MG & 1SL engine 8,heat 8 and shield 6. PC if this was your handiwork "Go To Your Room". Michael had a Ballistics 4GM6, 2ML heat 5. Spent most of game watching my titan grow smaller and smaller and smaller until I was able to get into TB range. Game ended with his attempting a DFA but failing due to ammo explosions which knocked him out of the air

Boy, my last few battles, while reaching the 100 mark, have really sucked. :-)
I did finally win one, though. Played Jukka for the first time (Sir Rechet). The game was pretty much a mismatch from the start. He got a Morningstar (2 TB, 2 chainsaw)and I got a Rifleman. (2 GC, 2 AC7, 1 SRM8.) I saw him early on and commenced sniping. By the time he got close enough to start shooting back, he was yellow in half a dozen places. He did manage to punch a few deep holes in my armor with TB shots, but in the end, my missiles took out his CT. Thanks for the game.

A glimpse of what's beyond
Was it just imagination
Stringing us along?
More things than are dreamed about
Unseen and unexplained
We suspend our disbelief
And we are entertained

Took on Jukka in his third online battle. He got a refit Green Dragon while I got my Mammoth. Basically I crapped AC20s and AC7s all over him until his CT and LoT were gone. However, he was still alive and kicking (not considered disabled for some reason). After a few more desperation GC shots, he conceded the game as his heat was rising nicely in hell.

Obviously the engine has been move around during that refit, otherwise it'd be destroyed with the CT. And I've fought other battles (against the AI) where one-armed and CT-less titans kept shooting at me.
Maybe Larkin or Iceman can clarify the conditions to be met before an titan is considered disabled.
