Yes it may look fuller with the fans on a flat plain
but
it also looks terrible if your graphically minded
I'd much rather have the fans in there own right in the stands than paint them on the stands.

What I was thinking was essentially having fans on top of fans. Place the sprite fans on top of the texture fans.

Not sure I understand the difference between texture fans and sprite fans.

I noticed during the Giants game last night, there are a ton more fans per row than what we have been using.
Any of you could try doubling the length of the fan texture and copy/paste another row of fans to fill in and make it 30 per row.....see how it looks. The height will remain the same, but the fans will look more squished from left to right.
But it may look fine. I havent ever tried really tinkering with the fan textures. I think the ones Gil made have about 15 fans each.

that would be down to translation bro,
people in the forum often refer to "texture" when in actual fact what there talking about isnt a texture at all
but I soon latched on to what they mean and didnt see the point in any correction, that woulda been or seemed big headed

a texture is what it says, simply a texture not a graphic as such
when applying these terms to Fans, I would say yours and Gils with the pink between each fan is a graphic
were as some the originals, on a flat plain are textures,
no really picture to speak of, just a jumble of colour that gives the appearance of fans.

But were getting a little to technical now aint we..........[8|]

Thats kinda what I thought. I wasnt sure what they meant by sprite. I know what it is, just not as far as the stadiums go. The fans Gil and I use, and Rhino and Tbird, are basically a rectangular flat plane, with the fan texture applied. I usually create 6 or 7 and then copy and paste the whole lot of them until I have the stadium filled.

I have never tried the FBpro/Western Dome(Max FB) way. Mainly because I dont like it. It would be easy, but not pretty.

In the world of 3D modeling, if its applied to a model, it's generally called a texture. Whether it's just a simple color or a bmp/jpg created in PSPro or photoshop.

Yep, in that context thats exactly what it would be
like I said....... all in the translation, I suppose I coulda said and from what stand point your looking at it from
obviously mine is purely from a graphics veiw.

Maybe they wanted us to stop drinking 7up [:D] Yeah I can't stand the 1D fans either. I guess if you have a really weak computer then that's all you can use, but I much prefer the 2D fans. Of course that doesn't mean I wouldn't use fans like this...

What I did was put the 2D fans on top of the 1D fans.  It's not perfect, but it looks a lot better than the 2D fans by themselves IMO.
