Tutorial included?

The Tutorial has been in "draft" form for some months now - but still needs to go through the official "layout" process - so it is not there yet.

If you want to ask questions or just discuss something in the patch, please feel free to do that in this open forum area. But if you think you have found an actual issue, then please post in the Tech Support sub-forum will a relevant save. The Tech Support forum allows more bytes for an upload attachment, so it is the only place where you can attach a save to your post.

Thanks,

Joe

Question: If we load the patch with the new garrison requirements in China, I suppose right on the first day, Japanese players will have a problem, right? You will have to scramble to fill out new garrison requirements.

Of course, you can load your game with the public beta to get a heads up.

Although I did that, and my bases appear to still all be OK. Might have had extra anyway, but just to check
- Garrison changes affect ongoing games or just new games?
- If the former, does one have to run a turn before seeing the new garrison results?

Thanks Devs! Great way to spend Thanksgiving; testing out the new patch. Much better than being forced by my wife to watch the wonderfully entertainng (note sarcasm) Macy's day parade.

Kudos for all the hard work[&o]

Thanks for the response!

What is the lead time for the official "layout" process? The lack of Tutorial is the biggest reason that prevents me from playing the game; yes, I could search the forums and ask questions but this method is a bit impractical compared with a step-by-step Tutorial?

Amazing and exaustive list of stuff done in this patch.  How much of it won't happen if we don't restart?

Well all the code stuff happens no matter what ... all the art stuff happens no matter what ... in the area of the data changes ... you get some and you don't get others ... the true "master data" you get ... the instances of such master data you do not get. So for instance with ships, we have the ship classes and we have the ships. You get the classes without a restart, but we cannot update the ships because too many things may have happened to them "in game". So you're stuck with the ships you have until you upgrade. Once you upgrade a ship, you refer back to the class file and pull in a new, patch 02 updated (if there was an update for the class) instance of that ship. Same principle for LCUs and airgroups. The devices will be updated, the aircraft will be updated, but the LCUs will only be updated when your TOE upgrades because then you are pulling in a new TOE. So net/net you get about 80-90% immediately without restarting, the other 10-20% you only get as you continue to play, or if you restart.

I know many of you will consider the public beta to be the same as the official patch - but I would just like to remind everyone that is not the case. The public beta is certainly 90%++ (maybe 98%+) the same as the official patch will be - but they are not identical.

Because we know we cannot adequately test everything in the timeline we would like - we are essentially asking the community to help us and itself (the community) by helping us finish the testing process. We will run this for about a week then roll in any corrections then release the actual patch.

We are hard core. We understand and can handle this.

Among the changes in the beta patch is the addition of cargo capacities to AVs, AVDs, AVPs, and CSs.

When I create a TF with either AVDs or AVPs, the options to load cargo are greyed out.
Is this WAD?
If yes, will these ships still give support without having any supplies?

Thanks in advance for any help.

IMPORTANT: Please also read the new “Interface Addendum” and the “Pilot Management Addendum” which have been added to your Documentation shortcut sub-folder and can also be found in your /Manuals installation sub-directory. These two documents contain very important information on improvements and changes in these areas.

Yeah, but the a,b,c,d in the pictures etc are incredibly blurred ... or do I need glasses ? [8D]

Question: what is the reason for removing so many US squadrons (VR-2, VR-4, VR-5, VR-13, VMF(P)-321, VMO(P)-351, VMF(N)-511, VMF(P)-511, etc...)??

I am assuming that the (P) squadrons were Provisional squadrons, but if they existed why are they being removed from the game.

I am not a OOB expert, and am willing to be informed....

3. I don't see any mention of the Downfall scenario. Didn't make it?

Unfortunately, no. It's still on the table, but pushed back.
Don't push it too far back T or it will fall off the back of the table. [:D]

Is this statement in the pilot addendum correct in referring to "groups" or should it really say "pilots"? Isn't the group experience level simply derived from the collection of pilots, or is there some kind of group bonus?
Groups will also gain skill and experience (after passing a training check against the
training percent of the group) at the end of each day:

The subbullets suggest that pilots is what is meant.
