RE: Unit art insignia updates
I have become a fan (and user) of the mods for just a few days now, and once bitten, cannot go back now.(LOL)..
To be historically accurate, I am posting the patch used by my old unit prior to it hitting "The Rock"(Corregidor).
The current patch is IMHO nicer looking, but we are dealing with WWII correctness.
This was for the 503rd PIR, U.S.Army..

I'm in a bit of a quandary as to which of these two, too use for the US Engineers. your opinions as to which would be best would be most welcome. Les

RE: Allied update 7
Difficult to choose... The Branch Insignia fits better to the used Generic Field Arty one, on the other hand, the Coat of Arms looks very nice. Why not make 2 sets, and let the users decide [:D]

The jacket brass on the right, thank you..(Never saw that other thing, looks like something from a Happy Meal..)

RE: Allied update 7
Depends on where you what to use it.
I think the left is for engineer regiments where the right is the overall insignia for engineer Corps.
So maybe use the left for regiments and the right for base forces, brigades, etc..
Or how about both?

Maybe someone with a bit background knowledge could tell is where exactly the different insignias are used than we could decide where they are best placed.
BTW do you guys usually check wikipedia first?

Looks like there is a bunch of other Coats of arms.

Both of the insignia are for the corps of engineers as designed by (TIOH) the Institue of Heraldry for american forces, the coat of Arms is mainly used on documents pertaining to the corps of Engineers, the Branch insignia is displayed on uniform epilettes to denote which branch the serviceman belongs. IE: crossed rifles for infantry, Crossed swords for Cavary etc.
Or how about both?

The Branch plaque, which is the image that you kindly supplyed is used by headquarters units, normaly affixed to buildings either on the enterance or on office walls

after searching innumerable (DUI) Distinctive Unit Insignia collector web sites, obcure sites for various unit historys, Veteren associations, TIOH, obcure little museums and numerous books dealing with DUI's totaling about 70 hours of searching.. Of course I would not think to check to see what WIKIPEDIA might have on the subject. the coat of arms that your link which you kindly supplyed points to the modern coat of arms of american engineer battalions none of which served in the Pacific Theater of Operations during WWII.
Thankyou all for your replys and i will make up a set for the Engineers using the Branch Insignia.

FYI, The emblem for the U.S.Army Engineers was inspired bythe main armory at the Citadel Military Academy from before the American War of Secession.
