Oh, BTW, AFAIK the rifle-grenades used in Korea /were/ simply hand grenades on a special bullet-trap used to launch them, and I /think/ the US used the same thing in WWII too. So they ought to--aside from range--be the same as hand grenades. (Thusly they can be "fired" (aka thrown) in the same hex or 1 hex away.)

To Bernie:

If they modeled Panthers like they were in real life, then nobody would be using them in SP:WAW. They are almost a complete and total failure of a tank not because of bad gun, armor or etc, in fact it excelled in this areas. BUT... Bad reliability. In Kursk, most of the Panthers were stopped not by the Soviets, but my mechanical breakdown.

In SP:WAW, if I was a designer, I'd model it like a check, every other turn or so, 50% chance to breakdown hehehehehehe

OR I might just be whining cuz I recently lost a game due to Panther G Uhus heheheheeh :D :D

I'm aware of their reliability problems, but was only speaking from the point of view of playing the game. :)

Vetkin, there was both HE and shaped charge warhead rifle grenades. And in WW2 they all were of such type that some sort of adapter had to be used and you needed a blank cartridge to fire them, unlike modern rifle grenades that have a shot trap so a normal round can be used. You can read about the german rifle grenades (shaped charge variety) from this site: http://www.geocities.com/Augusta/8172/panzerfaust8.htm

In my experience a German Nebelwerfer is a lot better that Russian Katyusha...dont know why but Katyusha doesnt seem to hit anything or kill anything...Im currently playing Kursk PBEM and i have 6 Katyushas & 122mm arty while enemy got 150mm & 105mm arty that are devastating compared my rockets and have to say that i would trade Katyushas away without any thinking...
Perhaps because the Katyusha really wasn't that powerful. It's strengths was more the terrible noise it made than the casualties it caused - which were in no means excessive. Finnish veterans remember the Russian artillery as terribly noise and impressive, but the kill ratio was lower than even in their Finnish counterparts. Strange, since Finns used Russian equipment. Perhaps time is making their memoirs better?
Anyway, the Katyusha was not an all-out superior SPA vehicle. I wonder what kind of damage did the Wurfrahmen 40 really do? Was it that Terminator that it is in the game?
And that's my favourite weapon, of course. 32cm Flame Rocket is... nice.

I'd have to say one of my favorites is the lowly PzB-39 ATR. They're cheap. They have a decent range, 10 hexes. If they hit, they stand a fair chance of damaging or destroying light or medium AFVs. Even heavies arent immune if you can get behind them and close enough! (I managed to kill a couple of KVs in the LV camaign by immobilizing them with a Sug and then sneaking up behind them with an ATR.)

Hide them here, there, and everywhere, and watch the enemy's AFVs walk right into them! :D :D

Aww.. that's unfair. The Panthers didn't fare too well at Kursk, but they were brand new, untested and rushed into field use at that time. Vetkin, you know too that most of the quirks were straightened out with the A and G models. ;) :D

German logics:

Mann: "Herr Überdesigner, we have extremely fragile and unstable running gear for Panther A! It works perfectly on a dry day on asphalt. Otherwise, it sucks."
Überdesigner: "Hmm, sounds good. We all know the weather at Ostfront is doch seht schön, so there should be no problem rushing these newborn kitties into a large and less decisive battle. Make it so."
M: "Good. What should we do with the rest of them [large crates of "running gear" lying everywhere]?"
Ü: "Improve them, but try to lag their shippings to tank factories."
M: "And that super-large barely mobile Königstiger tank we are going to build too late?"
Ü: "Equip it with the same running gear. It should be too light for it. Thus, it forces our troops to stay near the battle."
M: "If they ever get there?"
Ü: "Ja."
