And here we are with another episode of World Cup War Talk
I am your host Bob and with me as always is my good Friend Dick. Well Dick not much to report this round Captain Rburnsman has move up two Nashoons and another Panther to support his Tigers.
Yes Bob that Makes quite a meaty combat group, 2 Tigers, 2 Nashoons and 2 Panther A's along with some reinforcement Armored cars and 1 maybe two Sdfk 252/1's for infantry defense. All along the Southern border again. Captain Rburnsman seems to think that he has found a hole in TEAM USA's southern lines and is pushing the line.
Well that is all we have for today join us next time while we discuss the penitration values of the Greyhound.

Gary's M8's couldn't crack an egg the way they are shooting.
Well, I've had the best opportunity in a while. Gary presented 3 Greyhounds, 3 M15s and 3 Shermans for me to shoot at (although I found 1 of the Shermans the hard way... it took out one of my HTs). The problem is that I only got 1 Greyhound and 2 M15s and a couple other units. Very poor shooting on my part. The only bad luck for Gary was that one of his Sherman's had a malfunction of its main gun.
He also got lucky on the north of the map where I was trying to slip a few units by his defenses. He only saw me because he had an immobilized HT just sitting in the smoke that took a few shots at my mobile AAAs.
I could have gotten by and he wouldn't have known if it wasn't for that **** HT.

I squeezed in another turn tonight and it's 1:00a.m. so I'll keep this short:
Here's a tip: DO NOT mistake the 9 (bailout key) with F9 (surrender key). You of course get to confirm both choices, however, the surrender key ENDS your turn when you say you do not want to surrender.
Lucky for me I only did it towards the end of my turn as I was just going over final smoke popping and LOS checks and not in the middle of the turn.
I nailed a few Rangers and AFVs but lost a couple HTs myself.

And here we are with a double episode of World Cup War Talk
I am your host Bob and with me as always is Dick. Well Dick we were a little slow but we made it, sort of like Captain Tatro's reinforcements.
Yes Dick, Team USA has looked a little bit like a punching bag these last few turns, since Capt. Rbrunsman's reinforcements have shown up. Good thing he has his artillary or it would be all over.
Well folks Captain Tatro did leave himself open this last round and it sure did cost him. One M4, one Greyhound, and three of his precious M15A's. It is getting down to the wire and I am not sure if Captain Tatro will be able to pull this off.
But wait what is that in the horizon, it can't be, but it is. Team USA's Reinforcements have arrived. And what luck Captain Rbrunsman has left his drawers down. Well it cost him folks. Casualty list this turn was a NASHOON, 2 PzII's and an armored car. But it seems that Captain Rbrunsman has put HERO's in all his TIGERS and PANTHERS because no matter how many times Team USA assualts and fires at them they just shrug it off.
Well Bob it looks like both combatants have received a much needed second wind. Let the boxing match begin again. This is Bob Hendrickson signing off.

Editors note: Captian Tatro
The battle has been one of extreems for both sides, first one side landing a punch then the other side landing a punch. My esteemed opponent is very good. He knows when to pull back and when to press. It has been a very challenging and wonderful battle.
My intial plan of using smoke to obscure and confuse was marginally successful. I thought that Captian Rbrunsman would charge forward to take the hills in the Center faster than he did. Because of this my smoke line was on the west side (left) of the hills, but looking back in hindsight this was a HUGE mistake. I should have placed it on the east side (right) of the hills. This would have protected me from his Anti Tank guns that have accounted for the vast majority of the kills of my AFV's
Captain Rburnsman after his intial beating came up with a briliant plan to use his mobil artillary in direct fire mode, thus avoiding or minimizing my advantage of fast artillary. This also gave him a huge advantage in that he could place his smoke where ever he wanted without having to wait to the end of the round. He has done this numerous times throughout the game and it has saved him retaliation from my forces a number of times. Again a masterful idea. It has cost him though, having his artillary so close to the front line left them vunerable to my attacks on them. Which they quickly became the prime target for all my units and I have managed to kill the majority of them off. Unfortunatly I feel that Captain Rbrunsman has ordered reinforcements.
The battle continues to sea-saw around the middle hills with each of us trying desperatly to gain control. I originally rested control in the North and he gained a stong foot hold in the South. Neither of us have been able to gain control back from the other and this has made the struggle all the more epic.
I am now seeing large numbers of German forces pushing through my lines. Thank God I have set up my 3 inch Anti tank gun line. This has continued to thwart the Germans, but I am starting to see halftracks again and this time they are not loaded with Ski infantry. What a Colossal blunder that was. It is interesting how very important the intiail requisition of your forces is so key to winning the battle. I will say that Captain Rbrunsman has recovered rather well.
One final note before I get back to the battle. I have never been so disappointed in my M4's in my combat career. I will say that Captain Rbrunsman has taught me well on how to provide the worst possible angle for the incoming shot to hit but I can say that my M4's don't have one AFV kill out of the whole battle. It seems that they are just expensive explosions and that it might have been better to go with the Wolverines. Which in my opinion are also overrated but at least they can penatrate armor. I congratulate my Rangers, Greyhounds, M15A's and ATG's for a superb job at holding back the German army so far and tip my hat to a worth opponent.

Thank you. And I curse your 3" AT Guns.
Those **** guns can stop an advance quicker than anything (and it hasn't only happened to me in this match). I have nightmares about those things. I guess my 75mm AT Gun is causing you fits too because I haven't seen anything but infantry probe my side of the hills.

It's a beautiful thing when you start your turn with a Sherman sitting 100 yards in front of your Panther! One shot and watch that baby cook!:D
On the other hand it is not so good when the place is crawling with Rangers. I haven't seen many HTs in a few turns so I must have gotten most of them. Which just leaves hard to spot Rangers hiding behind every ridge and in every smoke cloud.
There were 3 squads right next to my Panther alone and I ran off 2 more within striking distance of it.
Other than the Sherman, I got a Greyhound and 2 bazooka teams. One of them was moving 167mph! That is some shuttle service from the rear areas you have set up Gary. I'm giving a marksman badge to the Sdkfz222 crew that nailed that one.
As Gary said, my Panthers and Tiger crews are really tough! Gary assaulted my exposed Panther many many times and other than a little suppression that the crew shrugged off, there was no damage. Thinking that I won't be able to take that kind of abuse for another turn, I withdrew to safety after popping that unlucky Sherman.
I must say that Fallschirmjaegers are much better than Ski Troops if anyone was still unclear about my position on that subject.
3" AT guns are still giving me trouble, but I am smoking the hills Gary is using. I hope he runs out of spots to park them.
All the action has been in the South and there hasn't been a peep out of the north. What are you doing up there Gary?;)

And here we are with another episode of World Cup War Talk
I am your host Bob and with me as allways is Dick. Well Dick another exciting episode today. As the Battle RAGES back and forth. Its like both Boxers have decided that there is only one round left in the match and they are going to go out and Punch themselves out until there is only one left standing.
Yes Bob it seems exactly like that as each Captain punish each other turn after turn. Feels more like a blungening match now than a boxing match. Yes sir. Captain Tatro accounted for three more armored cars, a PZkbfIIb, A PANTHER, and a Tiger was imobilized (I think the crew will pop). Yes sir it sure is getting ugly in the South. Well that is all the time we have for today. Join us next time as we see who lands the last punch.

And here we are with another episode of World Cup War Talk
I am your host Bob and with me as all ways is Dick. Well Dick we had some interesting things happen this turn didn't we.
We sure did Bob, in the North Captain Rbrunsman tried to sneak a couple of armored cars past Captain Tatro's ATG line in a desperate gamble to get at that artillary park. 2 out of three isn't bad. Only one of his armored cars got taken out but now Captain Tatro knows right where he is and that is going to make things a little difficult on him. In the South the Slug Fest continues as Team USA looses about 6 M1 Bazooka teams and 2 more Greyhounds and a halftrack, while Team Germany looses A TIGER, 2 halftrack, a Sdfk252/2, an armored car, and another PzkbfIIb tank.
It certainly is getting ugly in the South Dick, but far from over. Acording to my calculations Captain Rbrunsman still has over 7 tanks left included in that is a Tiger, Nashoon, and a Panther. Bad boys to tangle with. What do you think the odds are.
I don't know for sure Bob, but it seems more of the fans are rooting for Team Germany this round. Well that is all the time we have for today. Join us next time as we get closer to the conclusion of our broad cast.

Seems like a long time ago now, but after I stupidly stuck my Panthers nose into a hornets nest of M8s, M15s, Rangers and 1 Sherman and didn't kill one AFV, I figured that Panther was a gonner. But Gary tossed all he had at it and didn't take it out. The Panther rallied and low and behold, a Sherman just sitting there. So I shoot it and run. Unfortunately, I didn't run far enough because a sea of M8s with 2 M1 Bazookas riding shotgun on each one took out my Panther and the Tiger I had on overwatch. The Tiger did nothing.
I'm afraid to look at what Gary did to me this last turn.

I am your host Bob and with me today is Dick. Well Dick it looks like things are still all hot and heavy. As Captain Rbrunsman comes in blasting ith more SdFk252/2 and a few tanks and some FJ infantry. But Captain Tatro comes back and destroy's the SdFK252/2, 2 FJ squads and immobilizes a PZ-IIIh. That is all for now. Come back next time for a more complete report.
"Are you going to do something or just stand there and bleed"
My mechanized mortar took everything Gary had (and it was alot!). It was surrounded by 5 HTs full of Rangers and an M8 loaded with m1 bazookas. There is really nothing for me to do but pick away at the transports as best I can since I don't have enough guns to shoot all these low cost units Gary is using. It is quite frustrating.
(1)
The south is covered in smoke and my tanks have to risk assaults by the Rangers just to get a shot at the HTs and hope for collateral damage against the Rangers and Bazookas. I think Gary has killed as many of his Bazookas as I have with all the close up MG fire. My FJ units don't seem to have their hearts into it because they just stand around as their support tanks get assaulted right in front of them.
(2)
In the north we are playing cat and mouse in a lightly wooded area as I try to get some units at Gary's 4.2 inch mortars. It's a little late (turn 17 of 20), but I really want some payback against those bastards that have been raining on me every turn.

I am your host Bob and with me as always is Dick. Well Dick we have what appears to be a devistating blow to Team Germany as they move the last of the large tanks into the smoke filled with Rangers. Team Germany was very successful in taking out many of Team USA's halftracks but to no avail the last Panther and Nashoon Succumed while the last Tiger gets assualted numerous times. A PzIII-h was destroyed by a Greyhound and a squad of Rangers took out one of the last ATG's of Team Germany.
Up North it continues to be a Cat and Mouse game, but who is who is hard to tell. It is getting down to the wire folks and it is starting to look bad for Captain Rbrunsman. Well join us next time to see if Team USA's Artillary park is overrun.

"Are you going to do something or just stand there and bleed"
No artillery parks are going to be overrun now that you have moved a 3"AT Gun right in front of them. And, I'm not so worried about the M15 lurking up there but that M4 with the busted maingun can still cause my vehicles damage with that .50 cal.
When I spotted that immobilized M4 of yours early in the game I was happy to see your bad luck on that one, but as it turns out that thing broke down with perfect LOS to where I want to go. That perfect shooting alley has caused me serious pains.
My Tiger has decided to wake up and on his Op Fire he got 2 HTs and on my turn he took out an M8. I'm very proud of him now, but he should have done much more damage than he has during the game.
There are 2 more turns for me and 3 for Gary. Let's see what tricks I can pull off since I know exactly where Gary has to go as I still hold the southern VHs...

I am Bob and Dick is not with me today. Well folks looks like thins are starting to wind down. There is still a Tiger and a PZ-IIIh kicking around out there also two more armored cars. But Team USA put away another armored car, a ATG, an FJ squad, a MG and a couple of crews. It is getting difficult to find targets. Only two turns to go and we will have the score. Join us next time for desperate measures.

And here we are with a final episode of World Cup War Talk.
I am you host Bob and with me today is Captain Tatro. Well Captian T the battle is over and the points are in would you like to make any quick comments before we tell our public what the final round looked like.
Well I would just like to thank Captain Rbrunsman for a wonderful game. There were a number of time that I felt like I was out of control of the game and just taking a beating. That is not a feeling I am used to and it was quite frustrating and excillerating at the same time. It was interesting how much luck can play into the game. I had an M4 break down on me in turn 1 of the game, never got it back, had another M4 that lost its main gun at the most inoportune time (op firing on a PZ-IIIL), but as it turns out these two units keeped the sally of armored cars from reaching my artillary park. On the other hand I had some intersting shots from 3 inch ATG's that hit from long distances. Well luck plays both ways. In the end the Rangers were key. I was able to finally provide enough cover for them and I was able to sneak a platoon of them up to Team Germany's far VH and claim 3 out of 4 of them in the last turn of the battle and destorying the last Tiger and taking the Southern VH as well. I also feal that if Captain Rbrunsman had purchased GE regulars in his intial purchase instead of Ski troops the game might have been compleatly different.
Well Captain Tatro lets look at the final scores shall we.
..................Germany..............USA
Men................857..................604
Artillary............13......................0
Soft Vehicle......25.....................1
APC..................34....................20
AFV..................37.....................22
SCORE...........6,135..............11,690 DRAW
Now the fans should not be fooled by the numbers many of the soft vehicles and APC's were Kublewagons and a smale infantry carrier, also the vast majority of the infantry losses were Ski infantry. So the numbers are a little scewed. And that is it folks. It looks like Captain Rbrunsman is off to play Captain VikingNo2 for his next round. Lets wish hime good luck.
Editorial note: Captian Tatro
I would just like to say that this has been the most enjoyable PBEM game I have played in a long, long time. Captain Rbrunsman is both a great player and is also a good opponent. He was always curtious, yet competative, nice, yet ruthless. It was my honor to play him.
