Hmmm...I've had a grand total of zero crashes.

I'm sorry, have you already posted a DxDiag, Sessionlog.txt and any crash logs for us? Those would be crucial to make sure we understand why your system would be getting worse while others are getting better.stephenpaget wrote: Fri Mar 18, 2022 9:15 pm 1.0.2.1 Each new version is making things worse. I am now having CTD every couple of minutes. No crash log. The game is unplayable now. Background stars are flickering. Ship movement is jerky. Seems to be a slight delay now after every click of the mouse. Music stops starts, stutters, so I turned it off, which is what I have to do with the game ... hopeless ... why was there no early access to sort these issues out. Very frustrated, disappointed, and £30 worse off!
Also, you can still roll back to the release version installer or the previous legacy updates if you wish and they worked better for you. Those installers are available as downloads.

Re: Distant Worlds 2 - Latest Update (1.0.2.1)
I'm in a different boat, I never had a crash before 1.0.1.9, then it was between 10-15 minutes of game play for a crash. 1.0.2.0 improved things to deactivating my graphics driver after 2-4 hours of game play. With 1.0.2.1, I experienced a single crash after more than 5 hours of play, it was time to take a nap anyway.alexmannen91@gmail.com wrote: Fri Mar 18, 2022 10:40 pm is it just me or is the game crashing more now? i rarely had a crash on 1.09 now it crashes every 5 min
At least the updates don't force a new game start like many other games on the market.

The game has steadily become more stable for me with each new patch. With this patch its running very smoothly on a 10x10 2000 star galaxy with 6 empires and abundant independent colonies mid game. Even fixed a nagging display lag of ship icons on the zoomed out galaxy map. Before this patch they would freeze for long periods then snap to the ship but now they smoothly follow the ships.
Keep up the good work Elliot and crew!

Just wanted to say, I downloaded new patch this morning. Over six hours, saving every now and then (because I'm from the Old-school save and save often )
Some lag a bit but nothing causing crashes. I'm launching it from the AMD Radeon panel with the settings suggested in tech support. The only thing I did different was Anti-Lag is on.
I'll try later on just launching from the desktop to load a save and see. But so far so good.

The Control Center List Sizing option in Settings doesn't save across launches.
Re: Distant Worlds 2 - Latest Update (1.0.2.1)
Good morning!
I just finished a 3hr session w/ no crashes - I noticed only 2 brief pauses (1-2 seconds) during the entire 3hrs.
Yesterday the game was like a slideshow literally and would crash every 5 minutes (not trying to be mean, just descriptive) - no crash logs were ever generated.
This AM, following the troubleshooting steps, I turned off music but left sound effects on, left basic badges on, set GraphicsStreamingMemoryBudget to the memory on my video card, verified all my drivers were up to date. Also left Fullscreen on.
There was no noticeable change in number of ships/etc. I was even in the midst of a war with the Mortalen's, so there was a lot of zoom in/out, clicking, etc. going on.
One thing I did notice was when I loaded my save game, task manager reported DW2 was using 5,900mb of memory. When I saved and quit to desktop, DW2 was using 8,400mb. When I restart the game and load my game I just saved and unpause the game, DW2 was using 5,000mb of memory.
Regardless, thank you for a great game!

Ok, so I did a complete reinstall. Crashed after about 2 mins, no crash dump. Then I set GraphicsStreamingMemoryBudget to 4 in the game start override. Hasn't crashed in about 3 hours now ! Frame rates are low in the storms/nebulae, but still !!!Erik Rutins wrote: Fri Mar 18, 2022 10:21 pmI'm sorry, have you already posted a DxDiag, Sessionlog.txt and any crash logs for us? Re: Distant Worlds 2 - Update 1.0.2.1 Possible Bug
Hi All
I believe I may have discovered a bug with the 1.0.2.1 update.
After successfully installing the update last night I fired up the game only to discover that the patch had not reset any of my settings. I checked the patch notes on this update and indeed my settings should have reset, so now I'm left wondering if the patch installed itself correctly or if there is a bug in this update.
I am very hesitant to start a new game until I know that everything is okay so I would very much appreciate it if someone could look into this.
Many Thanks
PrivateLsd

the crashes are now so severe it was corrupting my system drive

Re: Distant Worlds 2 - Update 1.0.2.1 Possible Bug
The settings haven't reset on any of the updates for me. But if it says version 1.0.2.1 in the bottom right of the main menu, I can only assume the patch has been applied correctly.PrivateLsd wrote: Sun Mar 20, 2022 5:55 am Hi All

Here's a few crash logs for 1.0.2.1 and a dxdiag print out of my specs. I hope it helps.

Re: Distant Worlds 2 - Latest Update (1.0.2.2)
Updated the first post with the changes for 1.0.2.2. Please try 1.0.2.2 if you have any issues:
Also, please note this important change:
- IMPORTANT CHANGE: Changed default back buffer format to use Standard Range rendering. This may help some who are experiencing black screens at startup, _but it will also reduce the quality of some visuals_. If you were not previously having problems with black screens or crashes then you can revert to High Dynamic Range rendering in the in-game Game Settings to restore the visuals to their previous quality.
Any posts after this should be based on 1.0.2.2.

Re: Distant Worlds 2 - Latest Update (1.0.2.2)
I have no (unusual) crashes at all and had just some about 1sec menue lags that you, who have problems, dream to have.
I write because I have some loading issues with music, because then, when the next music is loaded (and it is a "big" file for music, about 50MB) it hangs for some seconds.
This is someting that bothered me, because the whole game hangs and waits for this file to be loaded (and I had ONE crash in that case).
Since then I play without music and load it in a music player. With the normal music I do not have any issues.
Why I write now is:
Maybe you try to rename the whole music folder and look if the crashes do not (or less often) occur?
Because maybe the music causes also crashes? It is always loaded a new music file when the view/zoom is changed, so this might be causing trouble (on top of other things maybe).
Maybe it helps someone.
I would prefer to load as much music as memory allows, at least preload the next track for every "stance" (attack, research, peace and so on of course).
P.S.:
Thanks for the patch! Thanks for the work!

Yeah having options to take advantage of higher installed ram and vram would be nice. The game barely touches the 32 gigs of ram and 11 gigs of vram I have.

I love this game, but there's one thing that's ruining the fun for me, when my fleets are automated and are defending my empire they all arrive to their targets at different times and the battle is all messed up, usually one fleet engages the enemy before the other and gets itself destroied, i don't know what to do with them.
Also automation for migration seems bugged my colonies are receiving races that have horrible suitabilities for that planet

- capped maximum bonus levels for Hive ships when salvage debris or raid colonies and bases
Does this stop Hive Carriers running around at 714 max speed ?

Is this with the latest version? If so, could you please share some saves files showing these issues?relane wrote: Tue Mar 22, 2022 1:37 pm I love this game, but there's one thing that's ruining the fun for me, when my fleets are automated and are defending my empire they all arrive to their targets at different times and the battle is all messed up, usually one fleet engages the enemy before the other and gets itself destroied, i don't know what to do with them.
