Just out of curiosity, how many fighter units have you kept back to guard the Reich and France from the strategic bombers?
I am really finding this annoying from the standpoint that I have 6 fighters (4 109, 2 110) and still can't get coverage against the strategic attacks. Its not like I have sent a lot of fighters off to Russia either and I have made a pretty big investment in the Luftwaffe and didn't take very many losses at all in the battle for France.
I read someplace there is some discussion about new interception rules where bombers go 4 hexes at a time and the 4th hex is a potential interception point. I think this may be a big help and solution to the issue since old slow bombers can pass over perfectly fine fighters on the way to bomb a factory that is out of intercept range.
Just wondering if anyone else house rules this. Obviously it can't be fixed that easily in MWiF and there are more important things to look after.
Sorry for the slight derail. [;)]
I'd like to touch on this briefly.
The entire game its a dilemma. Front line fighters or Air defense of factories/resources. The degree is different for each game. As warspite1, pointed out, his choice is easy. Not much in the way of bombers allows a conscience free of worry. Until the bomber shows up.
When setting up for an Air Defense, my priority are the following cities. Berlin, Hamburg, Essen, Hanover, Dusseldorf, Cologne, Metz. From this core its expanded on. If playing the oil option. The oil resources are added to the core.
All of those cities have 1 thing in common. If a bomber of 1 strength point attacks and is not intercepted and rolls a 10 to 11 you lost 2 factors. That can't happen at a 1 factory/resource hex.
Over time it all depends on how aggressive the CW player is in pursuing a bombing campaign.
