Hi Mussey I cant seem to find the UK Marine regiment (RM 3Commando Bde) in the orbat ? Also there seem to be a lot of RAF Phantom Squadrons missing I belive 9 sqn's where active until the late 1980's also 2 lightning Squadrons until mid 1980's,Hermes and Bulwark where Commando carriers converted from CVL to operate the Royal Marines around the globe with additional capacity from the assault ships Fearless and Intrepid, The Sea Harriers for Ark Royal didn't enter service until 1980 although the RAF had a number of Harrier GR1/GR3 Squadrons based from 1977 at Gutersloh in West Germany,All in all im liking the mod the British Army seems more like it did in the late seventies although some of the sources are a little confusing Im not sure where 24 Airmobile Brigade fits in it was west gemany based to provide a airmobile(heliborne)quick reaction force to land a powerfull anti tank screen to contain WP breakthrough of BR I Corps frontlines.

The battle of Medjerda is almost forgotten, but was fought against highly disciplined German troops and blasted a route straight to Tunis it was a perfect infiltration battle and should be remembered as the best fought British battle of the war.

Thanks for the feedback Ian. I have the RM 3 Cmdo as '3rd Marine Bde'. As for the RAF orbat, if you have good sources for the late 1970's/early 1980's I'l definitely take a look at it. Below is what I have so far. I'm always tweaking the orbats...
Just recently I added a few Home Defense units to the UK orbat (42nd & 43rd Bdes), under the assumption that some of these could possibly be redeployed outside the UK.

Good information on the 1979 RAF at:

Cheers
Cathar thanks, I started using this from your earlier pm. Excellent source. I cleaned up a considerable amount for UK, and some other nation’s air units. I’ll post a pic soonly of the revised orbat.

Yes, another delay. But a good delay. Cathar recently forwarded to me a great resource for 1979 air units: Flight Global, https://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarchive ... 02867.html.
While most of my air unit orbats were very good, a few such as the UK RAF was way off. Thanks to Sapper32 for noticing this discrepancy. I so I updated and double check my units and made a few other tweaks. I want to turn you on to what Cathar found:

Thanks for the update!! Any idea of a "gold" date? Also, interested to see the new color schemes! Will the Fr. be in red and blue pants (as I hope they will be) and not the Czechs?
Thanks again for such a great update of my favorite of all time scenes.

Welcome Zovs dude, you're among friends. Ask your questions and we'll try to answer them. TOAW IV is so different from TOAW III that it's almost a different game.ORIGINAL: Zovs

Sounds great Larry!
Reading the manual now (yes I am old school, I was just raised that way, lol).
So it appears that my 'default' installation is v4.1.0.20 (from the readme), I also saw there is a v4.1.0.21 patch, but a) I could not find it, none of the links worked, but I have not tried it from the main game options/screen window thing yet.
Larry your to blame for me purchasing this! lol I was reading your FITE2 AAR and was like...okay I am sold now...lol...so thanks a lot man! lol (hope my kidding comes through okay).
I am sure I'll have a bunch of questions, but back to the manual and any tips just throw them at me (again old TOAW III guy but good news is that I have not played it in a very long time so mostly forgot the bad habits).

Hopefully soon. I'm waiting on one more refinement that will bring the design to a conclusion. I wrapped-up the naval portion recently which is a large advancement from Beta, and caught some glaring omissions in the air orbat.
The new color scheme is a work of art. Fine craftsmanship, indeed. I think you and all others will like it...

Hello! In our Austrian hot seat conflict, we chose "Sudden" plus "Invade Austria" war on the turn 1 pre-turn, thinking that we would have 17 or 18 moves for the game per se .... briefing report now says (as of WP turn 16) that there are still 21 or so moves left to go. I'm not sure how the Event Engine works w/re/to handling beginning of hostilities vis-a-vis length of game (I seem to recall, that it was generally a 17 move game from start of hostilities, up to 34 moves max? not sure).
Anyway, it is raining here today, so we have some beer and the whole day inside to try to push this bad boy as close to end of game as we can .... WP seems really really strong. NATO is going to have a hard time in this one
as they should
Also, just as a side thought, this would be a great overall scene to "break down" into different smaller scenes (a la, "Fulda Gap" or "Just Austria" ... ) My memory is hazy, but I seem to recall that the original boxed game had four huge maps, each of which could be used stand-alone for different scenarios. Alas, my copy of the original was lost long ago, so I no longer have the rule book.)
Anyway, enjoying it very much and we can't wait to see the final!!! Thanks! D

Well we have not advanced the clock, but did notice about weather ....
section 16 I think, about dice rolls for weather, and [esp.!!] WP used to have choice to name the month to begin his offensive (16.1, "How to Determine Time of Year")
I only noticed, b/c we were discussing how snow and cold weather might affect any US withdrawal towards IT ... through that S. Tyrol area ...

In our hot seat game, Czechs revolted ... news reported Czechs withdrawn ... but Czech forces remained on the board, while the computer took off Hungarian forces were withdrawn, so it looks like that event might need tweaking .... seemed funky
