RE: Cold War Database 1946-1979 Platform Requests

Post by SunlitZelkova »

There are a couple errors with Japanese facilities, and I have some to request as well-

Armored Plt (Type 74 MBT x 4)-

7.62mm MG Burst [20 rnds] x 20 should be added to each individual tank

HEAT shells should be removed (it did not receive these shells until the 1980s)

APFSDS-T shells should be changed to APDS-T shells, the ammo count for each individual tank should be increased to 30 (APFSDS was not received until the 1980s as well).

The number of HE shells should be increased to 30 rounds. Considering the only nation to use high explosive for the 105mm L7A3 was France, the HE shells could be renamed HEP (High Explosive Plastic) considering they have the same effects as AP shells anyway.

Sources-

http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbwiki/index ... ition_Data

The main gun was a 105mm Royal Ordnance L7A3 license built by the Japan Steel Works, and the shells for the main gun was originally APDS and HEP, but now uses Type 93 APFSDS and Type 91 HEAT-MP.

Type 93 and Type 91 refer to the years 1993 and 1991, APFSDS and HEAT were not available until then.

https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/74%E5%BC% ... 5%E9%9A%8E

The Type 74 SPH unit should be renamed as follows-

Arty Bty (155mm/39 Type 75 Self-Propelled Howitzer x 6) -- Japan (Army), 1976

It should also have a 12.7mm MG, with 20 x 12.7mm MG Burst [10 rnds].

Sources-

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_75_1 ... d_howitzer

The Type 74 is a 105mm SPH, while the 155mm one is the Type 75.

Now then, I would like to request three units for Japan (the "weapons" indicates the weapons per mount)-

Mech Inf Plt (JGSDF) -- Japan (Army)

SSM Plt (Type 64 MAT ATGM) -- Japan (Army)

Weapons- 4x Type 64 MAT ATGM

Mech Inf Plt (Type 73 APC x 4) -- Japan (Army), 1973

Weapons- 43x 105mm/32 HE, 20x 12.7mm/50 MG Burst [10 rnds]

Info-
車内搭載弾数は43発で、射撃速度は最大で毎分10発に達する。

The ammunition count is 43 rounds, with a fire rate of 10 shots per minute.

I also would like to extend my gratitude to Sirius, especially considering the huge amount of requests I put up and how quickly he responded to them!

But worry not, I will have fresh requests for you soon! After all, a nitpicker's job is never done... :p

I agree! We should all be thankful for those who manage the databases.
I agree too
Thank you Paul for your fine work here.

Beginning with #1624 - CA 124 Rochester all the way through #59 CAG 2 Canberra, all have incorrect aircraft facilities. All are US cruisers that have aircraft carrier arresting wires, catapults, and/or 24 aircraft capacity.

- Posted this in error in the DB3000 section. Moved here.

Hey there! Here am I again, to present the latest results of my research to you! I hope you will find it useful! Enjoy!

Corrections:

#354 – Boeing PB-1W Flying Fortress

- Should have an AN/APS-20A radar with 360º coverage instead of an AN/APS-4 radar.
- Shouldn’t have neither the Generic Weather Radar, nor the Generic ESM [Simple], nor carry the Generic ESM Pod [Average]. The only electronic equipment it carried was the AN/APS-20 radar and an IFF interrogator.
- Should be able to carry 2 310 USGal underwing tanks.
- Please remove all defensive turrets.

#1613 – Fairey Gannet AEW.3

- Remove the Generic ESM [Average]. The Gannet AEW.3 was supposed to be upgraded with an ESM system, but those upgrades were never carried out.
- The Airborne Early Warning (AEW) loadout should also include 2 90 ImpG Drop Tanks.

I almost forgot, here are also some corrections for sensors:

KA-22 Panoramic Camera
- Currently the KA-22 is only capable of Surface Search. It should also have Ground Search (Fixed) and Ground Search (Mobile).

AN/APS-45
- This radar, as a height-finding radar, should have the Altitude Info ability.

AN/APS-95
- This radar, being a 2D long range radar, should not have the Altitude Info ability.

(As an aside, sensors really should be searchable in the database like weapons and ships. It would really come in handy for me!)

Hi.

I copy some error from thread of DB3000.

- UK Phantom II FG.1(CWDB)

Image

That was changed incorrect name on db 474v. It was Phantom II FG.1 before database.

- F-4J Phantom II(1972~1974 Both marines, navy - CWDB)

Image

AIM-7F Sparrow III was introduced in 1976. I think F-4J(1972~1974) can not mounted AIM-7F, It should be replaced AIM-7E2.

- Sturgeon-Class(1978)

1975-1977 Sturgeon has only mounted AN/BQQ-5A(v)2 sonar.
1978 Sturgeon are changed AN/BQQ-2 sonar.

Ship#1293 - D 181A Hamburg

Minor mount errors:

2x533mm TT - Capacity listed as 4, but should be 1

2xDepth Charge Rack [5DC] - Capacity listed as 12, but should be 5

Also, Jane's 89-90 and Combat Fleets 1993 show the Hamburgs deploy the AN/WLR-6 ESM, versus the WLR-1. Unfortunately, prior to the late 80's Jane's doesn't list details of EW suites. It just says "ESM" and/or "ECM" with no details. No details found searching the Internet.

Seems reasonable the Hamburgs initially carried the WLR-1/ULQ-6A suite (seems to have been a common NATO EW Suite from the late 50's through the 70's), but updated to the WLR-6 during a refit in the 70's or early 80's. Not sure if the ULQ-6A would also have been updated too (if it was compatible with the WLR-6). It's difficult to find EW suite details in book and the Internet. Maybe someone with some first hand work experience with these EW suites can shed some light on it.

P-40 Long Track radar should be 3-D capable

Post by Zathred »

Sensor DB ID 229: Long Track [P-40] mobile radar is a 3-D capable device but defined as only 2-D in v474 of CWDB. This sensor should be capable of returning altitude data which it currently does not. The description also says 2-D. Pictures show multiple feed-horns associated with 3-D operation.

I'd like to note that P-40 even in its more advanced forms was limited in 3D capability. The early P-40 seems to have been associated with PRV-9 height finders. It is mentioned though that the 3D model was used for guiding interceptors (needs better resolution in vertical than just handing off targets to SAM Btry FCR?).

As usual cant post links yet, but...

For starters SAM sim dev has gained quite a lot of knowledge in the field of CW WarPac AD.
