No, I'm afraid there's no way to do that crazyewok.

With this mod, you can create a new design and if you scroll down the ship image selection, you'll find a bunch of unused ship images. I put these here so that the player can create some extras designs with a bit more variety.

Yeah, I definately think that with an expansion focussed on modding, this game would be so enriched, it would draw alot more attention. There is going to be a patch to include more modding capabilities after Shadows is released, so hopefully that will add alot more. However I think our dream mod is still going to be out of the question.

Well I am looking at other game Engines. One looks promising.....But If im to create a MOD I need someone to work with.

Igard, I think you'll see this here more quickly than in the support forum. Try making the borg a non-playable race with a huge bonus to ship size, then design their ship templates to use a ton of components that provide little effect, like load the ship up with life support. From what I understand, this should cause the engine to scale the ship to appear larger, i.e. have the borg building size 2000 ships when everyone else is around size 300 or so. I believe this should avoid the ship scaling issues entirely, although it does unfortunately mean the player either cannot play as borg or must follow their design rules to play fair. It also means lots of tweaking for engine ratios and the like..

That's correct. I'd recommend that if you want to play, simply make a seperate installation of Legends. I've got Return of the Shakturi, Legends and Shadows all installed seperately.

Right now I'm just enjoying Shadows and learning the new game features before I attempt to update the mod.

I tried that method a while back. I can't remember what happened, but it didn't have the results I'd hoped either. I might give it another try to see how it goes. Perhaps something has changed in Shadows.

Yeah, I've just noticed that you can specify the number of components for each class in a design template text file. That looks much better.

However, the problem was always to do with the way the game scales each image. Since the Borg cube uses the most opaque pixels possible in an image, the game scales it much smaller than a ship with lots of transparent pixels in it's image.

I think the ship needed to be around 2500 in size to look remotely like the size it should. With a ship scaling factor of 2.0, I believe that's around tech level 6 or 7 (can't check right now) to allow for that size construction.

Well, anyway. I hope I can make something work this time!

I still plan to talk to Elliot about the ship scaling further Igard. Even with the
new design templates the scaling issue still exists. Hopefully he'll have time right
after he puts out the new customization guide. Really would like to have the Borg cubes
in Shadows in their appropriate size.

Hey I was checking this mod out and noticed a couple things with the new Message graphics. 1) researchbreakthrough.png is squashed down. and 2) construction_stalled.png is missing.

Did these ever get updated? Thanks!

Hi AstroCat, I had to squash the research breakthrough image to get it to display properly in game. The original researchbreakthrough.png is an image of a lightbulb which is a different shape, so to fit the little window properly, this image has to be stretched out.

I think the construction_stalled.png was added for Shadows. At least, it wasn't there when I made these. I will update at some point. [:)]

LOL! My first attempt at making a troop sprite. I think it looks not bad when viewed in game.

The blue background will be removed. It's just to help me draw.

You can all tell what it is though. Right?

Hey I re-uploaded the file in the above post. I accidentally forgot to leave the background transparent, doh! All fixed. [:)]

Oh the messages look a lot better than the vanilla graphics, I'm using them as my base in all my games for sure.

Yeah been looking at the game and see what you mean how you cant really to a Ent through to DS9 Era mod......

Thing is I dont think it would be too hard for the developer to tweak that.

Dont know if this as been raised with the developer?

It would make finacial sense as doing so and allowing a Ent through to DS9 mod would basicaly make the best grand Strategy startrek game out there and porentialy bring ina few hundred more customers.
