BigDuke66,

Okay, that makes sense. So first I install the last official patch (where exactly do I get that, BTW?), then I put in the latest beta.

Thanks,

Mike

Latest official patch can be downloaded from the Members area (there's a link at the top of the forum screen.)

I can't get into the members section. I keep getting the message that my log-in or password are in error - yet I can sign in to the forums. Do I need to register a different set of codes for that section?

Thanks,

Mike

Yes. Even if you use the same use name they will give you a different password! At least they did for me.

I had never noticed this before, so it may not necessarily be related, but I am noticing that the AI seems particularly gung ho on sending carriers into the the same hex as a base it wishes to bomb.

It spent several days (3 or 4, until I showed up with some carriers of my own to bomb them) in the same hex as Lunga, and now there's another ACTF in the same hex as Koepang. It's been there for two days now (Aug 13, 1942) so I'll keep track of how long it stays there. But I am under the impression that carriers operate at a penalty if they are in a coastal hex, do they not?

So it's August 25th, and the Koepang fleet is still there, and a new ACTF has arrived off the coast of Lunga again.... I think there's two carriers in this fleet, as well as several other capital ships....

Has anyone else ever seen something like this?

EDIT: It should be noted that I didn't start the game with this EXE

Sorry for all the basic tech-related questions. When I go to the members section the only download I see is for a planning map, not the actual latest patch. What am I missing?

Thanks again to all for holding my hand.

May I put forward a nice idea from a fellow forumite regarding spoilage messages: fb.asp?m=3516647

ORIGINAL: Yaab

Would be nice to see some messages about spoilage during turn's resoultion i.e

340 supplies lost to inadequate storage at Terapo

150 supplies appropriated by rear-echelon at Milne Bay

200 supplies lost in surf action at Kusaie Island

250 fuel lost to leakage at Taongi

Login to members section. On the "Members Club" page, scroll down the game list to "War in the Pacific - Admiral's Edition" and click on the game name - not on "[Registered]". On the page of "War in the Pacific - Admiral's Edition", click on "Downloads" and you will see the links to the official patch.

You can also go directly to the downloads section without login on the "Members Club": http://www.matrixgames.com/products/351/downloads/

Or even easier - direct link: ftp://ftp.matrixgames.com/pub/WarInTheP ... 1108r9.exe

Hi folks. I'm coming late to the party here. Haven't been on the forums in a while, and I was excited to discover a new beta patch. This game just gets better all of the time!

I have searched all of the notes, and I can't find an explanation for the "*" next to some LCU's on the ground units screen. Also, I see some transports now have a -t (i.e. xAK-t) appended to their type. Can anyone clue me in as to what these mean?

Thanks

"*" this mean units is a part of bigger unit like Division etc. and if condition are meet in can rebuild. Enter unit and click "unit organization of..." button, it will show what other units are required to rebuild.

-t this mean that ship is modified to transport troops. Normal cargo ships also can transport troops but capacity is smaller. -t is used also for subs that can transport troops.

One thing that bugs me a bit is that you can land LCUs from a transport TF (= LCUs arrive in strat movement mode), change movement mode to combat or move and give movement orders - and the LCUs start moving in the new movement mode immediately, although they are still labelled "unpacking". Movement starts even when part of the units are still aboard the ships. IMO the LCUs should start moving only after unloading and unpacking is complete?

I agree, and even on land after train movement [:D]

A new feature request that you are more than free to ignore...

It would be very helpful to have a option somewhere on the Port Management screen to see what ships have allowable conversions. Maybe this could be an option on the Upgrades screen?

Thanks.

What's the latest verdict on this beta? Since an official patch is unlikely, are there still open issues that people are seeing or have most of them been worked out?

I think its a much better game with the patch, now I just need to convince AirGriff of it so we can use it in the current PBEM Game.
