Help

Post by Phoenix100 »

Ok. Here I go again....Inspired by the recent twitch streams I thought I would try again with this game, having tried twice before, some time ago, and run into that block as I never found time to actually complete a first turn......BUt it looks so tempting. And the community seems so active and helpful.

But it's so complicated even to install. Can anyone help with what I need to do to play this game with the versions everyone is using?

Get the base game (v 1.00.79)and install it. Done. Then, from the member's downloads section I see 2 updates. 1.01.24 (28 April 2015) and 1.01.26a (1 nov 2016 - the 'open beta'). Do I need to install both of these? Are they not cumulative? So will installing the beta (1.01.26a) be enough?

Them, from last time round, I recall there was some kind of unofficial beta, with important tweaks to the AI. Was it version .07? Something like that. But where do I find this, and how do I install it? I seem to recall that it wasn't straightforward and you had to create a separate shortcut to start the unofficial beta? Am I remembering things correctly?

Many thanks.

Actually, I think, one way or another, I've found all the answers over on discord. Just ignore this thread, then, for now....Thanks.

"Beta" is NOT the upgrade you want to install after installing the game.
First, get the regular upgrade...and THEN you MAY choose to install the "beta".

Beta means bugs may still exist in the upgrade and it is up to the individual player to find them, (if any exist).

Generally betas are found to work great, and over time are then released as "official" upgrades.

Upgrades are generally cumulative..So far we have had maybe 6 of them rolled into the present "official" upgrade.

On top of the beta you have to install a small hotfix. It is in the Latest Beta thread.

So:
1. Original Game
2. Latest Official
3. Latest Beta
4. Beta Hot fix

And optional on top of that:
Andy Mac upgraded AI
Da Big Babes
Other mods.
I do not know what is scarier: that I do understand nothing of this demonic script or that I am starting to see the demons that it evokes.

Mmm. Now you're confusing me. I have installed the following, in this order:

Base game.
Official update (1.01.24)
Official open beta patch (1.01.26a)
Unofficial beta patch 07 - from here tm.asp?m=3185062 (I installed the file from the attachment in the first post)
Various andy-mac scenario/data updates
Various art mods

Did I miss something crucial? I can't find any hotfix anywhere.

Searching for 'latest beta' in here draws a blank - so I can't find the 'latest beta' thread referred to, tarkalak.

Thanks.

'latest beta' is what you installed - Official open beta patch (1.01.26a)

It is from 2015 I think, so it will never be updated to 'official'.

So I think you are OK.
This is what I did.

Install the game.

Then go to the games Product Page.
Go to the Tab that says Downloads and get the Latest Official Update.
Install that.

Then go to the Tech Support Page and get the latest Beta.
Install that.

After all that is installed open the game and look under the Main Menu Screen for the version.
It should look like the picture below.

Then you can go here if you want Andy Mac’s scenario updates.
