Saitek Cyborg X

Just got this new joystick and I can't get it to work with the game. It appears to be detected in the set up but nothing happens in-game. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Canadian Playbook for 2.2?

<t> I recently returned to the game after 2.2. I have a CFL season going. After updating the stadia, etc. from FBMax I tried firing up a game. It appears that my existing Canadian Rules playbooks do not work. I receive an error that mandatory plays are missing. Any hints on Canadian playbooks that ...

RE: Great game!!

<t> I have to chime in on this one. I was a big fan of the old Rowan version of BOB so I was intrigued by this re-release. I couldn't beat the download price so I took the plunge. All of the elements of the original game that I loved are here with some additional tweaks thrown in. All in all, it's a ...

Thanks, Greg. Much appreciated. This game still maintains some addictiveness for me so it's nice to keep it up to date.

Is there any possibility of uploading this to the beta testers forum?

Hey, Erik:

Any word on whether we beta testers will be receiving physical copies of GOA?

<t> SPI used to make great board games on more esoteric subjects. The ones I loved were Search & Destroy (Vietnam), South Africa (basically a hypo of a Rhodesia-type insurgency in South Africa against the apartheid government), and Fulda Gap (Soviet invasion of West Germany). I remember they had ...

RE: Review posted at Wargamer.com

<r> My read of the review is that the reviewer found the game historically accurate and highly challenging which is why GOA has been one of my personal favorite "grand strategy" offerings in a long time. This previously quoted paragraph pretty much says it all:<br/>

RE: Serbia first

<t> Great thread. My normal approach when playing with the CP against the AI is to mass troops north of Belgrade and then another thrust into Scutari and south east in order to take out Serbia by 1915. I usually fight a delaying action against the Russians who tend to make their thrust towards the ...

RE: So, how is it?

<t> I was involved in the beta testing and played the game numerous times in its various incarnations. I never found the game boring and I always found it challenging. GOA is comprehensive but not in an overly micro-managerial way. <br/>

RE: 2 questions playing as triple Entente

<t> HQ's are the strategic focus of the game. They are assigned activation points that are used for mounting offensives. France's ability to mount a meaningful offensive depends on what the Germans do. If the Germans get bogged down moving through Luxembourg, Belgium and northern France, and French ...

RE: Lol sweet the AI (Entente) just butchered me

<t> The subtle beauty of Frank's design is that in GOA art very much imitates life. What I learned in multiple campaigns is that Germany must strike fast and furiously in the West before the British start to appear en masse and the French are able to hold off the Germans at the gates of Paris. Too ...

RE: Manual/Turorial?

Based upon my experience from the beta testing, the manual did a nice job of explaining the play system and the mechanics of the game. The great thing about GOA - in my view - it that it's a fairly straight-forward game to learn but one that becomes more challenging after repeated plays.

RE: Complexity?

<t> I agree with 7th Somersets that the game's about 3-4 on a scale of 1-10. One caveat is that although the game is easy to pick up and play, the game has its nuances - the activation system, resource allocation, etc. - that require some thought. I found myself learning something new about the game ...
