RE: Are you ready for the Desert War?

A definite YES! on this one. Wish I had time for the beta but my job is keeping me busy until summer is under way. I also love that the game is wego.

RE: Luck or stupid AI?

<r> You say it's your first play? Looking pretty darn good. Of course, if you're anything like I am, I always seem to have beginner's luck and do my best on my first play, which I never seem able to quite duplicate on replay <E>;)</E> At any rate, I finally have time to play DC:B myself starting ...

RE: In my opinion THE book to buy..

<r> For me, it's a vicious cycle of books and games. A new book or two garners interest in a new game, which, in turn spikes my interest in another book or two. Already this thread has got me looking at yet fresh perspectives on Barbarossa, which makes me that much more interested in buying the game ...

RE: Concerned for your Success

<t> This added layer is what attracts me to the game. I am reminded by something I read on a blog concerning Hearts of Iron IV, in which the blogger said he felt a certain level of discomfort playing Hitler. A game is a game. Since I was a little kid playing with toy soldiers, I don't recall ever ...

RE: Excited

This will be an instant buy for me as well. Decisive Campaigns, imho, breathes new life into the traditional WW II board game system. Hope I get chosen for beta, but if not, I'll be avidly checking for the release date.

RE: Tigers on the Hunt needs true wargamers for beta!

Sorry to hear there won't be upper floor levels (and I assume sewers to crawl through). I assume there have to be trenches at least for the purposes of concealment and cover. Will there be hills? I hope there is some height advantage capability in the game.

RE: Tigers on the Hunt needs true wargamers for beta!

Glad to read about the emphasis on AI and pathfinding. To me, these were the weaknesses of the CC series. All the eye candy in the world means little to me if the AI isn't at least moderately competent.

Currently reading Wolfgang Schneider's "Panzer Tactics: German Small Unit Armor Tactics in WW II" to get in the mood. It's working [:D]

RE: Tigers on the Hunt needs true wargamers for beta!

<t> Signed up for beta as soon as I read the description. As much as I have enjoyed Steel Panthers, I hope (and think, judging from the description) this will be deeper. I saw a reference to board games on the first page of this thread, and that piqued my interest further. I've been waiting for a ...

RE: Panzer Command: Ostfront is updated to Version 2.0.330!

<t> I purchased Ost Front quite a long time ago and so was surprised to see the recent update. It's been a couple of laptops ago since I've had the game on my system, but after seeing the update and all the work that has gone into refurbishing this game since my original purchase, I just re ...

RE: War in the West coming in December!

<t> Whoo-hoo! This is great news! Looking forward to another massive strategy game with real teeth in it. After what seemed to me like an endless release of tablet games and fantasy fluff (yeah, I know, you got to sell what pays the bills), I was beginning to lose heart. Just logged "War in the West ...

OK, so I see the runtime error with the updater was addressed in another thread. I downloaded the hotfix for that from the thread. Unless you hear otherwise, assume, at least for me, that the problem is solved. [:)]

RE: updater not working

<r> Me too! I just bought this with the Market Garden add-on. The updater froze up and gave me a runtime error. Now if I click on the update button, I get the same message right away. Otherwise the game plays fine. Currently downloading the latest patch directly from Matrix. Crossing my fingers it ...

Update error message

The game worked beautifully until I patched it. Now it won't load. When I click on game icon, a runtime box pops up and says: Failed to extract project file to memory.

RE: movement too fluid

<t> I think aside from having too few units to really establish any kind of front, the problem resides in the lack of a sensible supply system. It appears units can resupply no matter how far away, no matter whether surrounded or not. With so few units involved, simply relying on ZOC and taking ...

RE: Differences between this and Panzer Corps

<t> It's been a long, long time since I played any of the Panzer General games, so I don't exactly recall how they handled supply, but no one can justifiably say Germany at War offers a very realistic solution to supply. Basically, units can resupply anywhere as long as you've got resources and the ...
