RE: Big Campaign PBEM

<t> You get down to playing it. I've done it twice. If you are serious about it, you create a bunch of spreadsheets to try to keep control of everything. It takes a while, but with one turn per day you should get through it - or if the players are roughly equal, to the inevitable draw. Be sure you ...

RE: Do you play out a "losing" game?

Play it out. It is still a win... from the education and learning. A half game does not show you the end game.

RE: Suggestion for Subs

<t> YES! No sane sub commander will choose to take on a sub-hunter like a DD. This game would be far better if the number of convoy points lost to subs could be seriously increased, BUT then decreased through the proximity and density of escort/anti-submarine assets like DDs, CVEs, CLs and Maritime ...

RE: Europe vs. World at War

W@W is a lot more fun... but you have to play the Allies, because the Allied AI is a true box of rocks.

WiE has far better AI for both sides, but the limited scope can make it repetitious after a few games.

<r> You are on the right track. Dump the <B><s></s>Rocket research<e></e></B>. Also dump the <B><s></s>Anti-Tank<e></e></B>. Keep the artillery; it is useful when the Afrika Korps shows up. Rockets are useless. You can upgrade AT later, but AT units are mostly only useful as garrisons ...

Of course scale is the big difference, but under the hood WiE has the advantage of longer and deeper development. WaW has some irritating "features" [underdeveloped scripts] that more development and refinement can sort out. As much as I like WiE, <B><s>[b ...

RE: is it me or ...

playing the Allies in the 39 campaign is a bit passive during the early game

Passive does not mean idle. An "aggressive" defence is the foundation for the longer term, when the tide turns.

It's fun to play the Western Allies after D-Day, and to race the Soviet AI to Berlin.

RE: Any AAR Screens Available with France Coastal Defenses ?

The best coastal defence is Ports with Armies, combined with swarms of high level(5) U-boats. You can slaughter amphibs "by the boat load". Have a reaction force of tanks (with one Heavy) under a good commanders at the ready. Do not be passive in defence.
