RE: Phantom counterbattery fire

I wrote it off to the crews being frightened by the booming of the next gun over. Maybe as a cost-cutting measure, the War Office formed the Royal Papuan Artillery Corps from the interior of New Guinea and slipped me a couple of gun crews without my noticing it

Phantom counterbattery fire

<t> In my campaign against the AI, I've got six 25-pounder field guns as an onboard battery. In my latest battle, at the start of each turn, two of the guns, different ones each turn, have 80+ supression and are marked with the # symbol. No one has shot at them, and adjacent guns have zero ...

RE: Corrected 8.403 Public Beta Now Online

Really stupid question time.

The installer wants to put it in my C:\Matrix Games\Steel Panthers World At WarH2H folder.

But I don't have H2H. Do I just put it in the C:\Matrix Games\Steel Panthers World At War folder?

I don't know enough about batallion/regimental/brigade TOEs to even try to modify stuff. Plus I have no trouble just buying what I need. So far. I did get really grumpy about the lack of bazookas at the squad level while playing the "Long, Long Road ..." campaign and ...

UK observations and questions

<t> Seven battles into my long UK campaign, I think I’ve seen enough not to look like a complete fool so I thought I’d bounce some stuff off y’all. I started in July ’40, so they all involve the desert.<br/>

Early war armour (if I’m playing and the Brits, Kiwis, Indians and Aussies, might as ...

RE: 8.403

Silly question time:

I'm in the middle of a scenario in a long campaign so do I need to wait for the scenario's end to install it, start a new campaign, or can I just plug it in and go?

RE: Bren teams

<t> So I was sort of on the right track.<br/>
<br/>
However, it may be a cop out, but I started over and bought the cheap AZAC companies that don't have Bren teams. I figure with two companies of Honies and another of armo(u)red cars, I've got more than enough direct fire support for the infantry ...

<r> Hello all. I jumped into the forums here a few months ago without seeing this topic, but better late than never.<br/>

I’m a 32-year old reporter with a minor in military history. My wargaming goes back the mid ‘80s when I’d set up my Star Wars and GI Joe action figures in the living room ...

Bren teams

<t> I just started a long campaign with the Commonwealth (UK vehicles and ANZAC infantry) v. Japan.<br/>
<br/>
I can’t figure out the proper use of all those Bren teams, and with four infantry companies, I’ve got a lot of them. Defending is pretty easy, put them back a hex or two and use ‘em like ...

<t> But I need to supress all of the AIs mortars set up 20 hexes behind the front lines.<br/>

Or I'm set up in a position with great lines of sight. Then I love the 155s, or if I'm defending, the 8-inch howitzer. Supression and kills.<br/>

RE: What is your Favorite WWII Division, and Why?

<t> On the other hand, I can't figure the Army's idea of continuity. From what I can gather, the 2nd Armored Division was renamed the 4th Infantry Division in 1995.<br/>
<br/>
And instead being the composed of the 8th, 12th and 22nd Infantry with supporting units (nine rifle batllions and four ...

RE: What is your Favorite WWII Division, and Why?

<t> While my Scots blood says its the 51st (Highland) Division, I'm going with the US 4th Infantry Division.<br/>

The Ivy Division, for me, kind of sums up the workmanlike job the American soldier did in the war. Not much publicity, just storm the beach and fight across Europe.<br/>

<t> Hi all.<br/>
<br/>
I’ve been playing this game off and on (and lurking here for tips) for a couple of years, and finally settled down to do a long campaign.<br/>
<br/>
I thought I’d play something ahistorical, and wanted to go with a reinforced Marine battalion that kicks butt in the ...
