RE: Favorite Games In The Genre

I'd put in a good word for Gary's TCB.  It's not only the best college basketball sim I've ever seen, but its a close second to PureSim for my all-time favorite sports game.

I wasn't going to bug you - but after waiting for three days for a reply from Matrix, I figured that if I wanted an answer I'd better post here. <E>:)</E><br/>

RE: Introduce Yourself

<t> I'm 54, and a game designer and writer. My first sports game was something I designed myself about 43 years ago using a deck of cards, a pair of dice and a lot of Topps trading cards. I've played almost every card, table top and computer sports sim that had came down the pipleline over the last ...

I was so suprised by the numbers that I stopped the Association.&nbsp; I'm restarting it tonight and will let it run.&nbsp; Now I'm curious to see just what happens if he continues to improve.&nbsp; :)

RE: Strike Outs...

<t> Yeah, I was quite astonished. I've never seen anything like this in any version of PS.<br/>
<br/>
In '40, he picted 302.1 innings, with 832 K's. He gave up 184 hits, 14 HR's and 53 BB. His ERA was 1.19. I'm actually surprised with those numbers that he ONLY had a 25-11 record.<br/>

<t> I've been away from PS for a while (too busy with work to have much play time), but I was curious about the latest build and updated it a couple of nights ago and set up an association and let it run.<br/>

<t> I'm a big fan of Gary's - and delighted to hear that Shaun is helping him out.&nbsp; I've talked with Gary quite a bit since he left GDS and even though I was a little skeptical about what my interest level would be in the golf game, I'm quite impressed by it and so far am finding it far more ...

RE: Removing players from an association?

<t> How about this for a compromise?&nbsp; When you are first starting an association and you have that initial list of players in the draft pool, have a "remove" player option.&nbsp; This doesn't retire or delete them - it just takes them out of the active list of players.&nbsp; That should then ...

RE: Removing players from an association?

<t> I've been trying to figure out a graceful way to do this as well.<br/>

I wanted to start a new association in 1950, but take J. Dimaggio and about 20 other players who were a ways into their career and end up with rookie versions of them.&nbsp; So far, I haven't had any luck ...

RE: Where did you all get started (first Basball Sim)

<t> For sims in general, I started playing Strat-O-Matic in the late 60's.&nbsp; My first computer sim was Roy Wagner's "Computer Baseball" by SSI for the Commodore 64.&nbsp; I'm not certain, but I think that was the the first real sim available on the computer.&nbsp; (I've always wondered what ever ...

RE: Importing Players Question...

One other thing I was curious about is if they could have been picked up as free agents "during" the draft. I'd never checked to see if you could do that - but you can't. So it appears that it is a bug for Shaun to look at.

<t> Ok, that was a good suggestion.<br/>

I just went in and looked at a few of the imported players and their transaction history:<br/>

RE: Importing Players Question...

<t> I'm certain that I'm seeing them being drafted by the teams selecting _before_ me in the draft. And at the end of the draft, many of them seem to be on the other teams. Unless I'm totally confused, it appears that only the human controlled team doesn't see them.<br/>

RE: Importing Players Question...

:)

I'll bump this one more time in hopes of someone offering me a suggestion. I'm still seeing this every season. Import some extra historical players and the other teams get to draft them - but they never show up in my draft lists.
