Replacement priorities and supply priority

<r> In some scenarios we have elite formations within forces that only take a certain type of men. The desert campaigns are a good example in that both Italian and German units take Rifle Squads but there are far more Italians available as replacements than Germans.<br/>

I've recently broken out the calculator an confirmed my suspicions about the bias of the stats for Anglo-American, especially American, equipment.&nbsp; Here's an example:<br/>

Formations going into reorg without explanation

A problem that I have always been curious about is when certain formations go into reorganization mode without ever being in combat, or under any sort of major stress. How does this happen?

Typing the Lighting Bolts

A few years back with CoW, I figured out, miraculously how to type the two lighting bolts of the SS. Now I have forgotten how!

Can someone remind me please?

Dug in tanks!

<t> So... why are dug-in armored units so unbelievably tough? I mean, they do not receive the enormous dug-in/forest/urban bonuses that infantry and towed guns get. Yet it seems their lethality and defensive power skyrockets once they dig-in, especially on good terrain.<br/>
<br/>
I realize that a ...

RE: Map and Unit Scale

I've been thinking about the battalions on 2.5 km thing...

Well a battalion (infantry) has... 200, 300 men?&nbsp; 300 men in a 2.5 km area is sort of packed don't you think?

Map and Unit Scale

<t> My philosphy about unit scale to hex size has always been one of "what is the maximum area a unit of that size can occupy and still be able to control it"?<br/>
<br/>
I used to think it was (for frontline combat units):<br/>

2.5 km => companies (Western), battalions (Soviet)<br/>

RE: Israeli recon and engineer units, Yom Kippur War

<t> Unfortunately, that map is 2.5 km per hex. <br/>
<br/>
Personally I think if you're doing battalion size, you should go 5 km, especially in the wide open expanses of the Sinai.<br/>

<t> Really? With a 25mm automatic gun and TOW missiles, the Bradleys are definitely overkill.&nbsp; The Achzarit is an APC not an IFV.&nbsp; So a late model BMD is more accurate IMO.

I agree that splitting the units based on actual battalion designations is best.&nbsp; The TF "A" and "B" make things look sort of off.

When you say the map is out there do you mean that there is a 5km map of the Middle East already made for another scenario?
