Re: Steel Tigers?

My first time on the general forum since the new forum and I find that Steel Tigers is dead. I haven't bought a new computer wargame in I don't know how long and at this point the only one I plan to buy is Second Front. Things like this, and the fact that I can't tweak computer games to meet my ...

Re: Steel Tigers?

Well no longer any need to frequent the Matrix Forums any more. This was the only game I had any interest in from Matrix. Looks like Second Front from Microprose will be the only choice remaining.

RE: Tiller Games Purchased

There is no naval warfare to date. Each side has a shipping capacity for each sea area. It is scenario dependent. Generally the allies have a much greater capacity.

Both Strategic War and Squad battles are the next series we want to put additional development into.

Hooray, at last.

RE: The State of Digital Wargames Nov. 2021

The only weakness in Vic's games are the OOB's. They tend to be inaccurate and not up to expectation. Has this aspect improved do you think?

RE: The State of Digital Wargames Nov. 2021

Well I am no legal expert, but the programmer of the ASL clone has quite obviously got his hands on an ASL rule book and began coding it. Seems like blatant plagiarism to me. They could at least give some credit, but they deny any link to ASL. Quite bizarre really.

There is a ASL clone being developed for PC now. By Microprose. I have no idea though how they intend to avoid a legal challenge from Hasbro/MMP.

RE: The State of Digital Wargames Nov. 2021

<t> I agree with the OP's general sentiments. PC wargaming is in a rut, for the last few years IMO. Most games suffer from being too simple or way too complex. Or bug riddled and unsupported. Or the designer totally lacks historical knowledge. <br/>

RE: Players still here?

So Matrix make a big announcement about some great new PBEM feature. Turns out its the same old junk. So now I am to blame for pointing out how the announced improvement is not all that different from the original. Are you kidding me?

Moving on and out of here.

RE: Players still here?

<r> Well I am surprised and heartened. But the PBEM system is still beyond my PC skills. If they ever get a cleaner method or use a Server to automate it I will give it a go. I recall many wasted hours and total frustration back in the day and I have no inclination to tread that path again. When ...

RE: Empires in Arms - 15 years of development and updates

<t> What exactly are the PBEM improvements? Because a casual look at the process in the updated manual looks pretty much the same as it was in 2007.<br/>

I was hoping/expecting the use a of a PBEM Server that would automatically handle/manage a PBEM game.<br/>

Great, thank you. The board game was one of my all time favorites. So much fun with the right group. Hopefully this new iteration will do justice to the original concept of a PC version. Thank you for all your hard work.

RE: Empires in Arms - 15 years of development and updates

Ok, so if I wait for the coming remaster, am I entitled to it as an original purchaser of the game all those years ago?
