Re: CEAW Ver 2.0

Hey Guys,

I heard that the band might be getting back together! :D

By the way, I'm from Alabama not Arkansas.

Also, I'm retired now would love to get back into this classic. The first human to human game of CEAW I ever played was against Jim, and then Borger. Learned a lot from both! And ...

CEAW Ver 2.0

I see that Fury will soon release a new version of CEAW.
It was one of my earliest Slitherine purchases, and I loved the game, but also was frustrated by its limitations.

A fellow in Norway, back in 2007, was one of my reliable opponents, and we found that we thought very much alike about the game ...

Re: Dumbest idea ever implemented

Hi

There has been some discussion of this since it was introduced, and there are changes coming in the next patch based on the feedback to make things more player friendly.

Good to hear. It would be nice, if we have to have auto-save, for it to occur in the background without suspending play ...

Re: Dumbest idea ever implemented

I'm sure I'm not the first to complain about the God-awful game continually disrupting play by backing up to the server. Here is a great idea: If you don't have any integrity, don't play multiplayer games against opponents. I probably have had one of the worst connections in the history of this ...

Re: Different how?

I'm also hoping there is some attempt to differentiate between very minor and major ports. Some South Pacific "ports" like Buin, Finschhafen and Luganville were little more than tropical anchorages with no jetties, facilities or drydocks. Utterly incapable of repairing anything larger than a ...

Re: Different how?

I'd be curious to know if the game will simulate one of Japan's major weak points, lack of oil and tanker losses which limited everything from pilot training to warship movement. Traditionally, the SC series has never tracked oil as a limiting resource.

True enough, in a specific way the oil ...

Re: Storms and speed

Interesting perspective on storms; I have played and/or tested virtually everything in the SC series. I don't feel that a day or two would matter that much in such a strategic level. OTH, it's interesting that ice caps expand and sometimes trap ships and subs for a full turn or two. So it points to ...

Re: Inluenced by Warplan Pacific?

Not that I know of. Alvaro got his start in the industry with mods and expansions of the original Strategic Command but he has his own game studio to tend to now. I could be wrong but most business people aren't too keen on working on a product that competes with their own.

I think that is ...

Re: 1904 Imperial Sunrise Naval Mod.

Hi Jim

You may want to uninstall and reinstall your game in order to reobtain the original files.

Mods go in a separate place, as per Kirk's reply above, therefore no mod will interfere with an official campaign, it is simply in addition to it.

Hi Bill

Thanks, I will do this then.

EDIT ...

Re: 1904 Imperial Sunrise Naval Mod.

Hi, I don't know about the Steam install. But for the PC version via Matrix, the 2 folders should be installed here:

Place the mod in this folder: C:\Users\[USER NAME]\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command - American Civil War\Campaigns

Thanks Kirk. My folders don't quite line up with this ...

Re: 1904 Imperial Sunrise Naval Mod.

Great idea on the mod, and so I have downloaded the mod files. I seem to have done something wrong though, because the campaign for 1904 no longer shows as a choice in the list of campaigns at start. The .cgn file, and the mod folder containing the various subfolders such as bitmaps were pasted by ...

RE: Public Beta v1.050 is Now Available!

<t> Still won't run on my system. Joe at support has sent various ideas none of which helped unfortunately. I'm quite confident the installation is good but still no joy. I click the play field, and the splash screen flickers to life and then dies.<br/>

RE: Public Beta v1.050 is Now Available!

I received my invitation, but have no idea where my game is. So I've reached out to the Support Team for assistance. This old classic is probably in the attic, as I suspect I had the CD version, and I don't have a CD drive on my latest computer, so not much point looking :(

RE: Shadow Empire v1.03 is available

ORIGINAL: Twotribes

You have to install 1.02 before you can auto update.

That seems odd, since the game version as purchased is already 1.02

Anyway, I did it manually, but thanks anyway.

<t> Come on...it's 2020 folks. Why is it not possible to use the game launcher on a brand new product which I just purchased yesterday, to update to version 1.03? I never participated in any beta versions, so it's not an "updating from beta 1.02 issue". I know I can download manually and all that ...

I'm having same problem too with UK units, even though I pasted the bitmaps into ALL of the campaigns. It's only UK that is wonky---all other CW counters show the Sipres modded icons.
