RE: St. Lo

<t> Hi Crushingleek,<br/> Again, thanks for making the St. Lo mod for BFTB. (I'm Chamberlain here, but Broadsword on the Battlefront forums)<br/> I'm only just starting Day 1 and making my initial plans, so I don't have much to report on my experience with it, yet except:<br/> *Love the bocage patte...

RE: Using BFTB as op layer for tactical games/miniatures battles?

<t> Too bad about not being able to edit saved games. But, I see that the Scenario Editor allows you to "clone" existing scenarios and import/export data from the Scen Editor. <br/> <br/> So, let's say I set up the St Lo scenario in BFTB. I play BFTB until I see an interesting battalion-level battle...

RE: Future Directions - Features

<r> <br/> Lots of posts have asked for various 3D capabilities or tactical levels to BFTB. I say, leave BFTB to do what it does best: 2D operational level wargaming. It's very realistic at this level.<br/> <br/> BUT INSTEAD: Make BFTB <U><s></s>data<e></e></U> more exportable and compatible f...

RE: Using BFTB as op layer for tactical games/miniatures battles?

What about that "estabs" editor? Doesn't that let players manually alter unit strengths and things? Couldn't you start a BFTB scenario, then do a "save as," and start the new scenario with the updated/altered results?

Using BFTB as op layer for tactical games/miniatures battles?

<t> As perfect as BFTB is, the only other thing that would put me in wargaming heaven would be if I could see the actual tanks and troops at the tactical level as they fight the BFTB battles. I'm curious about how/whether one could run a BFTB scenario up to a certain point where an interesting batta...

RE: COTD Hang Issue

<t> Do you have a dual-core PC? A lot of problems with CotD on modern machines seems to have to do with the game's dislike of dual core, even in XP. I finally got it to run normally in XP on my dual core PC, after I downloaded and installed Dell's "dual core optimizer," which helps&nbsp;run olde...

RE: Wargame Club Looking for CotD Players to Join!

<t> Are any of you in your club contemplating using "Histwar: Les Grognards" (once it is released) as a tactical engine to fight CotD battles as they occur in a campaign? That would seem to be Napoleonic Nirvana to me! It seems, from reading descriptions, that CotD lets you exit the campaign to reso...

Fastest way to destroy entrenched troops?

<t> I've had two tries now on the Soviet Kharkov campaign, and while both have been great fun, I've lost the opening battle both times. My plan has been to destroy one or two German entrenched units on the main line of defense (the ridge), then pour through the gap with massive waves of infantry and...

Shuttle bombing - is it possible?

<t> Is it possible in CAW to conduct shuttle bombing? That's when, say, a carrier wing takes off from its flattop base, hits a target at long range, then lands at a land airbase nearby that's closer than its original ship. This would greatly extend the range of strikes, and makes having land bases a...

Wake - Decisive Allied Victory!

<t> Played Wake as Allies. Result: US 360, Japan 51<br/> Luck plays a huge role in this game -- but in a good way. No two scenarios play quite the same way twice.<br/> My plan sent my 3 carrier TGs west towards Wake in a screen (one group north, one middle, and one south), with the cargo TG trailing...

RE: While I'm waiting for CAW.....

<t> Yes, the night actions in TF 1942 were quite thrilling to see, with the starshells and searchlights. Even the 1940s newsreel-style credits were cool. I swear there was actually an "Easter Egg" feature in that game that sometimes showed little shark fins in the water just&nbsp;after a ship sa...

RE: Malta - Ray Of Hope

<t> I noticed some German units popping up in Valletta long after I had apparently won the objective and cleared it of all enemy reistance. I know the city was completely sealed off, so how did they get there? Can they airdrop in or land by sea? Or do they represent units that had always been in Val...

RE: Malta - Ray Of Hope

<t> Well done!&nbsp; I got a decisive victory as Allies (both sides with normal reinforcements) in this scenario using this battleplan:<br/> 1.) Secure the beachhead - Similar to yours, with similar results.<br/> 2.) Expand the beachhead - With the S. (left) flank anchored by entrenched Commando...
