Hi:

The Avenger was designed to carry its torpedo and/or bombs in an internal bay.

Not sure if it even had bomb attachment points on the wings. It was a heavy airframe and getting off the deck even with a catapult was tough. No need to dirty up the wings.

That's what I'm afraid of. It's an unfortunate limitation on what could be an interesting alternative history. I am afraid that the limitations would be coded to Turn 1, so could not be avoided no matter what start date you specified.
