It would have to be possible to transfer them between them, as enforcing the 1941 OOB for three and a half years would be insane. <br/>

As it stands, motorised corps HQs make great light recon or security troops.

Personally, if CnC structure is further implemented in the TOAW engine, I'd rather have it something we can turn on and off. Some scenarios just don't need it. FitE would become a real bugger if we had to keep all units within X many ...

I agree. I think that would be cool if there were formations within formations. Also if you read any military accounts of battles, you find that detachments ...

RE: Supply Question

<t> OK. I cracked open the scenario last night and found that supply is tied to capture of the ports. That triggers an event that is variable in when it will happen. Depending on the port it may take anywhere from 1 - 15 turns for it to become a supply point. In my case I expect that the ports I ...

You can always do a scenario dump though, and check the file for where the supply points are for both sides. In a scenario that features amphibious operations, and is lacking in documentation, this is always a good idea. I still remember the surprise ...

RE: Supply Question

<t> Makes perfect sense. I agree there are good beachhead locations and there are bad ones and you should expect to see an effect for making a poor choice. To me it would make sense though that if you are able to land forces and maintain a covering force at sea then you should be able to land ...

RE: Supply Question

OK. That makes sense. Wouldn't you expect that in a properly designed scenario that captured ports would act as a supply source for your units?

Supply Question

<r> When conducting an amphibious invasion do you need to keep a portion of your Sea Transport capacity unused on each turn to ensure supply of your existing forces that you have already landed vs. using it all to bring in follow on forces? I've included the quote below from the manual that ...

Thanks. That's what I thought, but I couldn't find anything that explained it. Not that I looked that hard though. Figured someone would know. [:)]

RE: Who Uses Outside Tax Preparers?

<t> I've used Turbo Tax for the last 5 years to file my taxes. The software walks you through all the process and asks the questions in plain english. I think the others out there are pretty similar. If you buy the deluxe or premier versions it usually comes with a ton of tax guides and extra ...

Forum Member Ranks

Just curious. I am fairly new to the Matrix forums. Notice that the members have various ranks like Matrix Recruit or Matrix Legion of Merit. How does this ranking get determined? Is it based on the number of posts that someone submits or time as a member or something else?

AM vs. PM

<t> I am currently in a PBEM game as the Allies in the Bitter Victory Sicily scenario. My opponent has noted that the PM turns do not appear to be dark in this scenario. Thus the air forces of both opponents appear to fly at will whenever they want. Is this more a function of scenario design? Is ...

Opponent Wanted

Looking for a TOAW III opponent. Preferably one of the larger WWII scenarios. I'm fairly busy outside of the gaming so I cannot guarantee more than 1-3 turns per week, so I would prefer an opponent that is OK with that.

BTW this is under special capabilities. Not sure if it is relevant or not to whether a unit is good at Tactical reserve roles.

Don't they regain some of that proficiency after a couple of turns though? It appears that way to me.

RE: Tactical Reserves

<t> I've noticed in the unit reports that there is a rating for Mobile Defense. If you are going to use a unit in a Tactical defense type of role would you be better off having a unit that has a higher Movile defense rating? The units that seem to have a higher rating in mobile defense seem to be ...

<t> Thanks for all the ideas. I've been playing around and definitely found that breaking units down can be useful to:<br/>
<br/>
1) Cover a longer line when you need to.<br/>
2) Scout a large area when you break out from your enemy's defenses.<br/>
3) Provide an early warning recon screen when ...

Breaking Down Units Into Smaller Units

<t> I saw some discussion on a post in this forum in regards to breaking down units into 3 smaller units and rotation of one unit into tactical reserve. It has been my understanding that when you break down the units they are not as strong as the whole unit in combination. Is this a common best ...
