This bug is still present in 1.804.

EDIT: Unless the use by the Jap TF of ESP to detect the unspotted US carriers which causes the TF to stop is a "feature" and not a bug. The TF would carry out its mission normally if the US carriers were not in the area.

<r> Was the TF launching search aircraft? Launching search aircraft can reduce the speed of a TF but a reduction to two hexes seems extreme. Also, if the TF had destroyers or other ships low on fuel that needed refueling, the speed might have been reduced from that too.

Any chance the game won't be released at all due to bickering among the parties involved? They've already had over a month to iron out whatever problems they had but apparently have been unable/unwilling to do so.
