RE: Big LCD monitor, the good and bad

<t> As I type this I'm gazing at a 19" LCD monitor (LG M1917TM for the benefit of geeks[:D]) running at its native resolution of 1280x1024. I'm using the DVI socket to plug in my Nvidia 7900 GTX graphics card and the picture quality is fantastic. My advice to Joe would be to fins someone with a 19 ...

RE: Big LCD monitor, the good and bad

<t> An LCD at its native resolution should look fine. My two desktop PCs run 19" monitors (one an LG and the other a Samsung) at 1280x1024 and most of the games look superb, the exceptions being some older games that don't support that res (few and far between in my collection) and a couple of ...

RE: Big LCD monitor, the good and bad

I've been looking into this lately and discovered that switching to a widescreen monitor meant playing around with the settings in some game files to get them to run properly - adjusting the fov value in the .ini file for example. I'm quite happy doing this but I'm not sure it's for everyone.

My two cents. Slim was one of the best commanders of WW2.

<t> Thanks for responding[:)], but I've tried installing the game onto a different system running a different version of XP and I get exactly the same result. Issue with patch and UK edition

<t> Right. I've had UV (Just Play edition) for some time and had it happily patched to 2.41. However, after installing 2.50 it won't launch from the Game Menu (I get a 'Error: UV Data Not Found' message) and if I try from the Quick Start it launches but doesn't 'see' the patch. I get the same ...

<t> It depends to an extent on what your graphics card is. Nvidia and ATI have control panels which allow you to tweak certain settings, although I'm no expert in exactly how to go about resolving your problem.[:)]However, the first thing I would do before delving in to these would be to update the ...

Hopeful?

<t> Only found out about this recently. I really enjoyed 'Danger Forward' and 'Desert Rats' although I thought the latter had too few scenarios featuring 8th Army. Unlike some I found the interface intuitive to use and the deceptively simple gameplay compelling. I'd hope that Matrix would keep the ...
