RE: Help Please

As far as I know Sickles was the first one to go on trial and getting acquitted for temporary insanity. As for Beauregard I suggest looking into the bio "Napoleon in Gray" (I think it is from the 1950s).

Pinch of owl dung: General Samuel D. Sturgis

<t> Brig. Gen. Samuel Davis Sturgis (b. 1822, d. 1889). A solid soldier and officer Sturgis proofed to be no match for Nathan Bedford Forrest. Born at Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, Sturgis graduated from West Point in 1846 and was assigned to the cavalry. He fought in the Mexican-American War during ...

The Man Who Never Fought: Samuel Cooper

<t> Gen. Samuel Cooper (b. 1798, d. 1876). Cooper served the United States and the Confederacy as Adjutant General but had only very limited experience as field commander. Born in upstate New York he went to West Point at the age of fourteen. Graduating in 1815 he served at a number of garrisons ...

Another great bio, Battleline. I will soon rejoin you in the project. Have been busy with work and writing an article on Lincoln in German for his bicentennial.

Make sure to check the War Room on this forum to get the right hints for playing the Union. On the lower levels it should not be a problem to win.

RE: Lee's successor

<t> Well, Hood got his command in the West although he only temporarily became full general. So he would be a good example for a rising officer. Joe Johnston and Davies were at ill terms after Johnston retreated down the peninsular and their relationship got worse later. About Cooper I still have to ...

I love the phrase "son-of-a-gun".
Confederates will need good sharpshooters or good luck with captures to get rid of that new Union corps or army commander.

The only remark on his nickname I found said it was chosen to distinguish him from the other Andersons.

The "sword"-thought is taken from Symonds' bio of Johnston. But it is not a quote from Johnston as far as I know.

RE: Brig. Gen. Alfred N.A. Duffié

I only found the sentence in "Heidler" stating he was involved in the Virginia operations in spring of 1862. So I cannot say whether he saw some kind of action near Fredericksburg with McDowell or closer to the Peninsula.

<t> What kind of fantasy should it be? LoR is out of the question, Song of Ice and Fire would be great but has not that many magical creatures. Malazan might work as Steven Erikson created his world for role playing. But if you create your own fantasy world you have to introduce this world to ...
