Re: New Scenario: Central Front 1989 (NATO vs Warsaw Pact)

G'day,

Apologies for the late response. The first turn is meant to be a ceasefire, to allow players to make any last minute adjustments to their lines, or to start redeploying if they don't like where I've placed forces. The fighting proper will start on Turn 2.

Is everyone's version working, or ...

New Scenario: Central Front 1989 (NATO vs Warsaw Pact)

<r> G'day,<br/>
<br/>
I thought it might be useful to note it here as well, but there is a new scenario added to this forum; Central Front 1989, a clash in West Germany and Denmark between the Warsaw Pact and NATO. You can find it here <LINK link="https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m ...

<r> A few points about this scenario.<br/>

There's a wealth of information in the player notes for both sides. I strongly recommend you read these. Pay attention in particular to the bits concerning surrender locations, EEV and the theatre options.<br/>

New Scenario: Central Front 1989 (NATO vs Warsaw Pact)

<t> G'day everyone,<br/>
<br/>
It's taken more than 10 years of chipping away at this, but it's finally at the stage where it's ready to pass on for your enjoyment. I'd like to thank Bill Lott for making the excellent map, as well as doing a lot of playtesting over the years.<br/>

Central Front 1989: NATO/Warsaw Pact- Final Playtest

<t> G'day,<br/>
<br/>
Bill Lott and I have been working on a NATO/WP scenario for a few years now, as time permits. 29 one day turns, Regt/Bde level, 10km hexes, Denmark through to Bavaria. I think it's pretty good to go, but would like some fresh eyes to look at it. Does anyone want to join me in ...

RE: SAM Units- Do They Work Now?

<t> G'day mate,<br/>
<br/>
The scenario hasn't been uploaded yet, I'm putting the final touches on it and writing the player notes. It's a brigade/regiment level scenario, 10km hexes, 1 day turns set in Central Europe in 1989.<br/>
<br/>
I already had AAA effectiveness at 200%, so I'm not sure ...

SAM Units- Do They Work Now?

<t> G'day,<br/>
<br/>
I've been out of the wider TOAW gaming community for a while, so I don't know if this has been fixed. I remember that SAM units never really worked, with enemy aircraft normally flying around them with impunity.<br/>

Removing a TO

<t> G'day,<br/>
<br/>
I'm developing a 1989 NATO/WP scenario, and have an event for turn 1 (pre-war cease fire, shooting starts turn 2) where the Warsaw Pact player can allocate some of his Spetznaz battalions to raids on headquarters and logistics installations. However, if they don't choose to ...

RE: HQ unit composition

<t> G'day,<br/>
<br/>
My 2 cents is that headquarters units should be weak, and that you shouldn't be a slave to TOEs when creating them. I use HQs to simulate the command element, but also the logistics units within a formation. So for a division there might be a battalion or two (27-50+) supply ...

RE: American Front 1940: The Fourth American Civil War

<t> G'day mate,<br/>
<br/>
Yeah it did take ages, but eased by using the same map as AF 14. The hard part was getting the (imaginary) TOE and Orbat right, which wasn't helped by a bug that crashed an earlier version and saw me reinputting the whole orbat (which was then changed at least twice ...

American Front 1940: The Fourth American Civil War

<r> G'day,<br/>
<br/>
After several years of work, I've finally finished 'American Front 1940'. This scenario is a sequel to 'American Front 1914', my WW1 version of a war between the Confederate States, Britain and Mexico against the United States. The United States, allied to Germany in the ...
