Re: MS Surface Pro9 for gaming? Looking for advice.

You would be pleasantly surprised how many games it can run. I had a surface pro 4 with only 4GB on an i5-6300U CPU. With that it ran everything I got in terms of Matrix Games. Strategic Commands (old and new), Field of Glory games including Empires, Flashpoint Campaigns Red Storm, Order of Battle ...

RE: Matrix games on Windows tablets & phones

<t> 7 inch is pretty damn small. For gaming on a tablet I wouldn't pick up anything under 10 inch, which my tablet is. No problem with size except for the one Paradox game I play, and Paradox seems to love small walls of text on it's EU3-type game engines (I'm probably the only one still playing the ...

RE: Matrix games on Windows tablets & phones

<t> Crysis used to be the benchmark, "yes but can it play Crysis" used to be the gold standard. But damn that's a 7 year old game now - yes many tablets now probably can play Crysis since it only needs a dual core 2.2 ghz CPU and 2GB of RAM. <br/>
But that's not our gaming genre of choice ...

Not really true, ARM architecture is very different from X86, do not look at the GHZ or RAM and compare them directly because you can't when the system architecture is entirely different.

RE: Would like recommendations for RTS games that will run on my Notebook?

Take Command 2nd Mannassas should work no problem with your specs. RT tactical civil war strategy game at it's best. Holding "good ground", as well as flanking, is a very important aspect of the game.

<t> Guys, once again, anything that works on a windows 8 desktop works on a windows 8 tablet of equivalent specs, there is no difference: mouse and keyboard, virtual drives(I have a virtual XP running on my tablet), etc. All except perhaps the extreme cheapest basic tablets should have a USB port ...

RE: Are their any wargames that use voice commands?

<t> Tom Clancy's EndWar. I played it on PS3 with the voice interface, but I think it's on PC. You can play the entire game with voice. A lot of it was "team 1 go to A"... <br/>

<t> Yes, some tablets on the market are just as powerful as PC desktops - with I7 CPU's, 16bg ram, and tb of internal storage. The only difficulty is in upgrading it, as are most laptops. It just depends on how much you want to spend.<br/>

<t> Not a Matrix Game, but just like the other post here I've always been impressed with the AI on Strategic Command 2 (it's almost too good, as you are forced into the historical strategy because you will soon find taking some crazy strategy like attacking through Turkey will not work, and you soon ...

RE: PC vs Tablet when dealing with Windows 8

<t> It seems this thread is more about windows 8.1, or the make of tablet that was purchased (one without USB ports? no mouse? no storage?). It's also somewhat erratic - in post one the OP says a "a tablet is not a PC", the last thread is completely opposite in saying a tablet is a PC "one is merely ...

Windows 8.1

Anyone manage to get this game working on Windows 8.1? I tried all the tricks possible - compatability mode, switches, various resolution. No luck.
I have a Windows 7 PC where I can get it to work. In Windows 8.1 I it loads but I get a flashing screen on the map.
