map mods

Hoping to pick up WIF during the current sale, but first a couple of questions, if I may:
1) Where are the map mods? I have seen them discussed, but haven't found any.
2) What can be modded? I assume textures only, but how much more would be allowed, if any?
Thanks!

So yeah you only get the autofinish icon appearing during campaign races, not single races.

Quod erat demonstrandum. I thank you. I was focused on the single races, and didn't realize we were doing an apple-and-oranges ...

RE: Auto Finish: Where?

<t> Thanks for the screenshot. I wish that I saw that on my screen! On the race screen I see instead the sound icon, the main menu icon (laurel wreath), and the exit game icon (an X). And no sign of the arrow. Also, I have uninstalled and reinstalled (and updated) the game three times now, with no ...

In addition to complete at least one lap, you have to be in one piece in order to have the autofinish button active. If you are being dragged or stunned, the autofinish button is not shown

RE: Auto Finish: Where?

<t> Hmmm. During campaign races, the one and only icon I have is sound. There is, in fact, no way to get out of the race other than play it through to the end. And this has survived a reinstall.<br/>
<br/>
I guess I'll try another reinstall, and if that doesn't fix it, wait for an update that may ...

RE: Auto Finish: Where?

<t> No, like I mentioned, I have run lots of races all the way to completion. I begin with three icons up in the right corner (sound, menu, exit) and they stay at three only right through to the end.<br/>
<br/>
As to resolution problems: None. Everything else looks and acts normal. I have ...

RE: Auto Finish: Where?

<t> Yeah, that's where I figured it should be -- but it's not there. I've got three icons: sound, main menu, and exit game. I tried running the game in different resolutions (native res is 1920x1080) thinking maybe an icon was getting cut off. But no. <br/>

Auto Finish: Where?

Can somebody explain to me where the Auto Finish button is? The manual says it's supposed to appear after the first lap is completed, but after quite a few completed races I have yet to see it at all. Where and how does it actually appear? Help appreciated!

RE: Justice for Nathan Bedford Forrest black cavalrymen.

You miss my point. I was dubious that a KKK'er had black soldiers in his command. Any proof?

Nathan Bedford Forrest, the founder and first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan? That Nathan Bedford Forrest?

RE: Combat System?

My 2 cents: I agree with Marcus. The instantaneous combat resolution really lets the air out of the balloon. Doesn't affect the game in any way, granted. But a display that was a little more stately, a little more epic, would be welcome.

Mine eyes have NOT seen the glory

<t> Downloaded the game yesterday, installation went normally. But I haven't so far been able to get to the game. Game starts up, I hear the Gettysburg Address and see the pic of Lincoln, etc., but when the scenario selection screen appears the game locks up and requires a reboot. DxDiag attached ...

Correction to the above: McNeil said it has NOT been updated recently (so a forthcoming patch was not implied). Apologies for my hasty read.

AI vs AI

<t> There is an AI vs AI switch in the settings file, which I appreciate as I sometimes like to watch an alternate history play out without the need of running one of the two sides myself. Problem is, it doesn't seem to be pausable -- meaning you can't zoom in/out, nor pause it occasionally to study ...

Bismarck and Doolittle

<t> I'm still learning the system (never played the original), so I haven't monkeyed around yet with the scenario editor.<br/>

For those of you who have, here's a question. There are two WWII naval events I've always wanted to game: the hunt for the Bismarck, and Doolittle's raid on Tokyo ...
